Anyone have issues RMA’ing a Nightforce scope? I’m having issues with the clutch breaking on my NX8 4-32, have tried everything suggested (pushing it up, rotating the main screw to try to free it up, etc) and it has just made the problem worse. Ultimately it’s restricting the scope to having only about 25-30 MOA of elevation, which is damn near useless for long range.

Has anyone sent a scope back, and what’s your experience? I’m already not enthused about having to pay insured shipping both ways on a defective product that I had no hand in causing, and have seen wait times can be a bit ridiculous. This is one of my competition scopes so I’m caught between a rock and a hard place of having a $2k paperweight and missing several matches, or having to pay several hundred in shipping, still miss several matches, and potentially be told it’s my fault and I’m SOL.

No RMA issues on the very few problems I have heard about.

Flat Rate USPS Priority plus $2k insurance would be under $50.00.
Depending on your location, you should be able to ship UPS Ground plus $2k insurance for the same or less.

How did you conclude that you would have to pay shipping both ways? Pretty sure NF pays S&I on the return.

Reading comprehension issue on my part regarding both ways

Nightforce scopes are great. Their CS is sub par from what I’ve seen. All other manufacturers I’ve dealt with will always send ya a prepaid shipping label then obviously ship back to ya as well. Not to mention I’ve had another company speed up a fix (less then a week) as I was leaving for a hunt.

Schmidt does not pay postage to them. Only return.
However, CS including communication, is excellent.

I have heard their repair services are slow but very thorough. Of note, if nightforce themselves didn’t tell you to screw with the suspect clutch and some fudd told you they did it and it worked for them, but made your situation worse as you stated, there’s a possibility you voided the warranty for an unauthorized repair

I went off of posted communications from Nightforce regarding this very issue from the Hide
