I'm schedule for the PR7 long range course at Gunsite in October, but a friend of mine went to the one you mentioned a few weeks back. Walt Wilkerson (50 cal national/world champ) was teaching the course. Walt is a 30 year Special Ops Sergeant Major and one of the best long range shooters in the country. I took the 223 course with Walt a few years back.
My friend said the seven day PR7 course was excellent. He was a retired swat team commander and police sniper, but he learned a ton of new material at the course. You work in sniper-spotter pairs at all times, and swap between shooting and spotting. Gunsite teaches old school milling (range estimation), marksmanship, wind estimation, ballistics, communicating as a team, shooting under time pressure, and reinforces it with a wide variety of targets and conditions. He said they were shooting at 800 yards by day two.
There is a fair amount of class time along with shooting all over the 2800 acre facility including sniper ridge. I think he said there was even a night shoot for those with illuminated reticles, and of course the class shootout.
I've taken four courses at Gunsite so far and in my opinion it is the Harvard of shooting schools - none better. I'm looking forward to the October class - hope to see you there!
