I used a Sharpie Silver Paint pen and some lacquer thinner to remover the excess. Came out great, and is worlds easier to see.

I used a "french tip" nail polish ( the brush is real thin) ran it over the numbers and wiped off. The polish will go into the recesses and allow you to wipe off whats not needed. Saves you the trouble from user laquer thinner as the OP did.

Not really too tedious. I just wiped the pen over the numbers, let it dry for a few minutes, then took my rag and wiped off the excess. The paint stays in the numbers quite well. I did have to go over it twice to totally cover the green, and had to use a q-tip where I got a little crazy with the pen, but it was easy.

I got my pen at a Michael's craft store. They have a huge selection, but I didn't think fluorescent pink or pastel yellow were appropriate.

Re: No more hard to see green! (Bushnell 3-12FFP)

I'll be buying a Sharpie paint pen and lacquer thinner tomorrow, thanks. So finally got to Hobby Lobby and got a paint pen and paint thinner. Found out cleaning across the lines and numbers has better results, than wiping parallel to the lines and numbers. Didn't do the illumination turret-don't use it anyway!

I'm more than satisfied with the results, the dark flat olive was hard for me to see on no less than bright sunny days!

Thanks, I was considering sending back to Bushnell to fix or even upgrade, no need now, thanks again.

I might have to do this with mine, i have the same scope.

the color doesnt really bother me that much, but the white looks so much smoother. thanks for the pics.

Re: No more hard to see green! (Bushnell 3-12FFP)

Not to overload Bushnell, but I asked for Mil turrets in white for my 6-24x50 FFP and they sent them right out; no cost. Of course, that is only the turrets, so the markings on the scope body, parallax and illumination are still green.

Re: No more hard to see green! (Bushnell 3-12FFP)

I always said I was going to do my turrets (Elite 4200 3-12x FFP mil/mil) in white, but just never got around to it. The green never really bothered me. But looking at the pics here I think I am going to go ahead and do it. Gotta break the long gun out this week anyway. It's been gathering dust the past 6 months due to school and work.

Re: No more hard to see green! (Bushnell 3-12FFP)

I am actually kind of nervous. I done this to my AR several times using model car paint and thinner, but I am kind of iffy to do it because of the fine lines and markings on my 4200 Elite.

Guess I will have to bite the bullet and try it out. All else fails, Ill grab some spray paint and camo the thing!

Re: No more hard to see green! (Bushnell 3-12FFP)

I used the silver sharpie method today with some paint thinner and q-tips. Thanks for sharing this with everybody. It was very simple. Best method i figured out was to just mark over the lines or numbers let dry then take a q-tip with some thinner on it and rub over. This will cause it to smear some but let that dry and put a small amount of thinner on a rag and wipe off the smears. I had to go over mine twice like the OP said it turned out great.

Re: No more hard to see green! (Bushnell 3-12FFP)

Guys,

Send me a PM with your model of Elite 4200 or 3200 and name/address, if you have the version with green markings and I will send out new turrets to you free of charge. I only have 25 sets of each(.1 Mil and .25 MOA). Once they are gone from my stock, they will have to be ordered through my parts department, so I am sure some cost will be charged, just not sure what it will be. First come, first serve!

Guys,

I think I got everybodys sent out. Please, please let me know if I accidentally missed someone. I tried to go through by PM, but I may have jumped over one without realizing it. I'll be gone from Thursday through Sunday chasin' some turkeys back home in Kansas, but will check my messages again on Monday.

Re: No more hard to see green! (Bushnell 3-12FFP)

Guys, hate to say it, but I sent out my last 2 pair of .1 Mil dials today. All I have left are the .25 MOA dials. Just FYI.

Re: No more hard to see green! (Bushnell 3-12FFP)

I would like WOW for Bushnells customer service. IMO this is above and beound what one could expect a company to do.
I would like to thank Bushnell and Jeff for truely taking care of there customers. This is the second time they have truly amazed me in there customer service. The first was several years ago but I didn't and never will forget it. To me this is what sets companies apart from each other. Making a good top notch product is only part of the determining factor when making a decision on what optic to go with. I just assume to go with something and a company I know will take care of me.

Re: No more hard to see green! (Bushnell 3-12FFP)

Wow, thanks Jeff!!!

I live in Canada, so there are all kinds of export regulations with regards to firearms and optics. I sent Jeff a pm inquiring about the turret offer not sure if shipping across the border would be allowed or not. Jeff made some inquiries, and after confirming that special permits would in fact be required, he redirected by request to the Canadian distributor to fulfill the request. I never would have expected this to say the least!!!

Thanks again Jeff.

Little things like this are what turns a happy customer in to a lifelong customer.
