Re: Nobody puts baby in the corner (mk12)

I think anyone who puts a NF 2.5x 10 on a tactical rifle is more concerned with preformance than being taticool. That is about the best scope for most any shooting I have ever seen. I shoot them to 1000 yards. Few scopes have anything to offer in better preformance, and none more practical or portable. Too bad NF quit making it.

Nice rifle.. but not a big fan of that particular NF. When you dial it there is NO WAY to know how many revolutions you have gone, she just keeps spinning and not showing any tick marks. The objective lense could be a tad bigger too... It still felt kinda dark on the brightest days. And not that this matters, but those damn scope caps make me want to burn this mutha down! Completely useless except for storing...

lol, well i was issued this so can't really change much

. i LOVE that scope i've hit 8"x6" targets at 900plus with this scope and for this rifle i wouldn't put anything diferent on it. Luckily i can buy this scope through nightforce still if i want it, so i can put it on my personal MK12.

i actually don't carry this much cuz besides urban warfare i'm not a huge fan of a 5.56 long gun but if your in town its nice, light and portable.

Care to share the cost to you?

Re: Nobody puts baby in the corner (mk12)

Sorry for sounding uneducated, but whats makes the MK12 an MK12? Is it just the 18" barrel with a 1:8 twist and full length rail? I love the way these guns look, I have not seen one I do not like. What sets these guns apart from the rest? What are the MK12 specific options? Thanks for educating a noob.

Re: Nobody puts baby in the corner (mk12)

So what type of situations do you choose a 5.56 precision rifle over 7.62 on the battle field anyways? Not being Mil/Leo I wouldn't know.

Basically a 18" upper with a rifle length rail and the Ops Inc set up.

Re: Nobody puts baby in the corner (mk12)

A lot of people don't "get it" with the MK12, until they shoot one.
It's just a heck of a lot of fun, pretty dang accurate with the right barrel/ammo, pleasant with the suppressor, and offers rapid follow up shots.
Optics are a personal thing, but the MK4 M3 Leupold 3-9X36 on the Mod0 is a great choice. I've gone to a different ARMS mount (#35 base/rings) in place of the ARMS 35 rings for compatibility with the UNS, and haven't been unhappy with it (what I had in the parts box), but I do adapt well to the higher scope mounts.

And of course the Mod1 "ish" build. Also great fun, and quite accurate with the Douglas barrel (instead of the Krieger of the Mod0).
Gone through different stocks & scopes, but ended up with the PRS (got to use it on something, and I do mount the D-760 to this rig) and the tried and true old NSX 3.5-15X50 warhorse.

With the UNS on the Mod0 and the D-760 GenIII on the Douglas, they are a potent combination for night shooting.

The Mod 1 is cheaper to build then the Mod 0, so you have no excuse for putting it off.

Re: Nobody puts baby in the corner (mk12)

lol, i have my own as well. but this one is issued,

i run 20 rounders usually unless i'm patrolling with it then i run Pmags.

I don't carry it alot as if i'm goin to carry a long gun i usually backpack bolt gun and carry my SCAR.

in iraq though its a great weapon.
