Night Vision Non Helmet Options for Binoculars (Sentinel... etc)

I have seen 3 options. Anyone have experience with these? My reasoning is packability and ventilation. Not even mentioning the crye nightcap because it doesnt feel stable enough to me with binoculars. I am running dual MUM 14s but plan to upgrade soon.

1. Raptor Tactical Sentinel:

Cheapest option. Seems a bit beefier than the nightcap but might not be enough.

2. Ops core skull crusher

Looks the most stable but at this point may as well just use my helmet.

3. Wilcox L4 NVG

Wilcox makes good stuff but does seem to offer more stability than the raptor tactical.

What do you guys think? I may go with the raptor tactical for the price.

Also norotos makes one but it isnt available with a dovetail so that is a no go.

Wow, you mean the Crye night cap isn't holding 'em up for 'ya? I know others that have used it for those. Some have even more hanging off 'em than that. You have the weight pack, right? I only use a 14 so I only put batteries in it but I'd suspect the weight would fix your problem. And it's gotta be adjusted well, adjusted snug. I LOVE mine. I have a nice helmet, it just sits.

Short of the Ops Core, the other two just look like more expensive versions of the Crye cap! That's basically the Crye cap without the mesh and with tougher nylon (which isn't necessary and probably isn't comfortable).

That Ops Core looks like the one to go with though if you're having problems with weight and really want something different. It looks like it could still be comfortable at least. It's more like a helmet with a lot of space missing.

But if you're having these problems, why not just use a light helmet? A bump helmet? More stable, not too heavy, probably more comfortable than any skull crusher (especially the "legacy" shit but I noticed you didn't go there!).

Yeah got a weight pack and love the crye for a monocular set up. The main thing other than some rigidity it is missing compared to these other examples is the extra stap going from the occipital area to the chin strap. In my experience with kayak helmets that extra strap keeps it in place pretty well

Also Raptor has a gen 2 with boa type straps. I have mixed feelings on boa based on my experience with snowbaord boots and bike shoes. Best system out there until it breaks. Straps and metal buckes will last far longer than boa ratchets. I will probably pull the trigger on the gen 1 raptor to avoid the boa. The boa will fit my head like a glove but you can get it pretty close with some strap adjustment.

Regarding the helmet it just seems stupid to me to wear a helmet if you dont need impact or ballistic protection. Spent too much time in helmets for work and army shit i guess.
