Noob barrel twist question

I have a 700 police in 308 with a 1:12 twist. It has a 26” barrel. I want to cut it down to 20”. I understand the loss of velocity that comes with it, but will the twist rate effect stabilization at 500 + yards (assuming 168-175gr projectiles)?

I had a 26” 700 PSS with a 12 twist. 168’s worked well at 600 and in. 175’s out to 1K.
