I'll try a second time.
Hi everyone.
As you can see I'm new.
I'm an old man that doesn't do social media.
This is my first post to a forum of any kind.
I'm happy to join and look forward to soaking up as much of your knowledge as possible.
Thank you in advance.
I'm a novice shooter. I've been shooting all my life and know just a few fundamentals. I have a friend who's been a gun enthusiast since we we're teenagers.
He's been my fount of information when I needed to know something.
But, I need a larger experience pool for my pet project.
I've always wanted a high quality 22lr that looks and feels like a quality centerfire.
I haven't finalized a design, but have a general concept.
I'm really looking for the subjective experience of the feel of mechanical precision.
I'd prefer something classic in appearance. I'm leaning more toward a silhouette with "Express" sights or peep sights.
I plan on using my rifle for plinking or informal range shooting. I enjoy the challenge of shooting with open sights, but that being said, I'd like my rifle to be very accurate and worthy of wearing a scope.
Not match accuracy, but near that.
I really want a pretty rifle that feels and shoots as if it's high end.
I'm sure the refrain is the same as the hotrodders question " how fast can I go?": "well, how much money do you have? "
I know that as you strive for the very best, the cost of improvements become inversely proportional.
I guess I'd like to achieve this for $1000 (not likely, I agree) to $2,000 (more realistic).
I'll try to ask cogent questions as I go along.
I thank you again, in advance, for any information or suggestions that you may have in helping me achieve this goal.
Thanks for listening.

welcome from long beach.
can't help with informed suggestions as i only have the 10/22 takedown lite for backpacking.

Welcome to Sniper’s Hide 52Sporter.

You should be able to get a few options to fill your need...your need...for speed... 😄
Sorry, couldn’t help myself.

It’s a good time to get what you are looking for. You have your choice from a number of quality options these days. I see that you’re already checking out the Rimfire sub-forum. I suggest posting your info request as a thread there and be sure to put in as much defining information as is possible in it. The more we know about your want, the more likely it is that you’ll get useful information in return.
👍🏻

Thanks for the advice for asking questions on the forum.
I'll try starting a thread on Rimfire sub.
How can you see what sub forums I visit?
Thanks for the welcome.

Thanks for the welcome.
You may have info on stocks or finishes or coatings, who knows what I'll need.
Thanks for the reply, I must actually exist!
yeah, the new posts page fills up so quickly, it is easy to miss a new thread unless you go to that section.
if you post your question in the rimfire sub as suggested, it is more likely to get replies.

to be frank (not the owner of snipershide), only girls get much attention in the intro section. :p

Oddly enough the thing that comes closest to mind is in your chosen handle. A used Winchester "52" D. The only stumbling block I can see is the scope mounting as it is the older style.

A CZ of some sort could likely be customized to what you want, but as near as I can tell they do not offer factory peep sights, but they exist in the aftermarket.

Anschutz would be another but you'd be getting very close to the outer limits of your budget for a rifle and no sights.

Last time I checked I'm still a guy, but the older I get and my testosterone peters out, well you get the idea.

Thanks.
I've been considering some of those same as options. Also, older Mossberg models that I could colorcase harden the receiver and sights for aesthetic purposes, maybe rebarrel.
Great suggestions and happy to entertain any and all.
Thanks again.

Check into Team Room

Everything goes on there, and I mean it, then for some more fun and chuckles (adolescence sometimes warning)~ read post #1~

And if you just like “work safe” great pics and things~

Enjoy~~~🤙

FYI they used to call it “Maggie’s Drawers Bar & Grill” instead of just “Maggie’s”.....I liked that first one 😉😏😏😏

Lol! If you click on a member’s name, it shows you a bunch of information about that member. Such as join date, number of posts, other stats and also when that member was last on the site. If that member happens to be currently in the forum, instead of showing when he/she/it was last onsite, it will say “currently viewing <whatever thread that person is viewing>”.

A another interesting thing is that if you click on the actual number under “messages”, it will yield a search showing the posts a person has posted in reverse chronological order. There’s all sorts of fun things you can do and learn about using a forum if you’re not afraid to try things... 😉
