    RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA. 11/08/2024.

    On the early morning of November 8, 2024, 12 shots were fired at random at cars and residential buildings between Interstates 40 and 440 in Raleigh in a span of several hours. Police matched the locations of the reported shots to cell phone pings from a vehicle matching witness descriptions being present at the shootings and arrested 23 year old Andrew Thomas Graney, a NCSU student majoring in anthropology who had been enrolled since 2019 and charged him with assault with intention to kill and discharging a firearm into occupied cars and dwellings for each of the shots he had fired. A .45 caliber handgun was also recovered from the suspect's vehicle matching the .45 caliber casings found at the sites of the shots. No people or animals were harmed. Graney is currently being held without bond at a Wake County detention center.

    REGIONAL ALERT STATUS: The suspect is believed to have been working alone and as of currently, NO further threats are being posed to residents of the community though people are advised to remain constantly vigilant.
