Anyone used these in their .308 loads?

Mine would be used in a 1:10 twist 23" long barrel with an AAC 762SD suppressor. Currently I am getting .6" 5 shot groups consistently with occasional .3" and .4" groups.

They would be replacing SMK's and Hornady 168 BTHP bullets. All distances will be within 600yds. Is there any reason to spend $90/1K more for my purposes?

Thanks

a friend says they work fine for him and would rather buy them than the other two mentioned.for me the 77g .224 is shooting good out of my 223.but just my opinion and what was told.

Re: Nosler Custom Competition 168gr Bullets?

I shoot these more than anything. The price is real hard to beat. Tey are very similiar to the SMK. On a good day I get 1 ragged hole. This is only at 100yds but they're GTG.

Re: Nosler Custom Competition 168gr Bullets?

For the price they are great, under 200 with shipping for 1K.

I have found them to shoot very close to the 168 SMK but not quite as tight, which doesn’t make a bit of sense to me as the bullet measurements are more consistent than the SMK.

Re: Nosler Custom Competition 168gr Bullets?

They have not held as good of groups as the SMK's for me. Its to bad because they are much cheaper. On the flip side Bergers have held better groups.

Thanks for the replies guys. I guess I just need to decide if it is worth saving $.10 a round and possibly having my groups open up. I suppose I could order 1K and see how they work.

For the price the are worth it, IMHO. When I said they dont hold as tight, I am talking maybe 25%-30% larger groups but still under MOA out to 300. It just depends on what you are wanting to do or are looking for. I will buy more as long as the price gap between sierra and nosler remains.

Re: Nosler Custom Competition 168gr Bullets?

I like'm...just started using'm recently. Worked them primarily out of the DPMS semi's. My Dad had them shooting just about on par with the SMK's out of his 700 sporter. I'll start playing with'm out of the bolt gun in the next few weeks. My dad sub'd them in place of the SMK's and had'm shooting just about as good just needs minimal tweeking.
.
On a side note Midsouth Shooter Supply has'm in stock 1000ct. Thats where i picked mine up...quite satisfied.

They do and I have some but as of yet they are only availible in 100ct and 250ct boxes so the savings isnt as big. I have not shot the 175's enough though to comment on if they are on par with the smk, but at 100 they appear to be.

Re: Nosler Custom Competition 168gr Bullets?

I don't have a range to make buying and loading the 175's worth while, but check Mid South Shooting Supplies for some good pricing. I shoot the Nosler 168 HPBT Comp. and have used the 69 gr Comp. from Nosler. Waiting on a new delivery of both.
