Been scheduling outings on the day off to get the resident "gamer" away from the XBox.....

At this place for lunch just after 0600......

He couldnt finish his pancakes and I easily wolfed down my eggs, bacon and sausage. Good place lady was a kindred spirit. When speaking about Covid 19 in her heavy Greek accent she said "This is all because someone does not like the President." Rock on lady!

The hikes for today were places I had passed on the road and just wondered "Whats in there?"

This is what I can see from the road....looks inviting.

Weird soil for this area, almost a sand dune, must have been a glacial run out at one time......

    P8189622.JPG

Had a quarry there, kids now graffiti at will......

    P8189623.JPG

    also indications of a spillway......

    Well damn, its a dam.

Kind of lame water entrapment but its a big ass earthen dam....

You couldnt build shit like this today. This was all hand layed by imported Italian craftsmen and Poles. Lots of names ending in "ski" in Clinton MA. The regulation, OSHA fines, lack of skill, hold ups due to the Clinton snail Darter.......never again. It really is a beautiful structure.

Made computer boy walk down the steps, up the steps on the other side than return via the steps. Its a heart pumper.

Note the train trestle in the historical posting.....had to go find the remnants of that. The trestle pylons are visible in the water below the dam but where was the track?

Another thing we will never see built again....

Got to give my son credit for doing the walkthrough. I was expecting a homeless guy to pounce on us in the dark at any moment....

    P8189647.JPG

All ledge cut. I didnt see any drill marks.....

The vaulted ceiling cut probably by feathers and wedges or by blowing people up with the rock....

Tried to go to my Honey Hole gun store.....cock blocked wasnt open.

While we were in the land of Mary Rowlandson, Lancaster MA, I wanted to cross this big ass field I always see from the road....A. To sweat my ass off rucking through the humid grass B. To sweat his ass off by getting out of the house.

Cock blocked again.....posted no tresspassing. What a waste of a good rifle range.

Went to Kimballs ice cream and computer boy got an Oreo Mint and I had a not so bad coffee. Picked up some super fresh vegetables at the farm stand and it looks like grilled burgers tonight......Dam good!

Good to see they don't have a no hunting rule at Wachusett Reservoir.

Yes they could have made the list shorter by posting what you can do.

For a good time after 9/11 it was an OT hot spot for Local and State Constabulary. It was totally verbotten to public use. Guessing the herd of stair climbers was really pissed for that period of time.

Makes you realize how many cool places there are off the beaten path to visit in this country. I was a corporate trainer and saw every airport and hotel close to airports throughout all 50 states for way too may years. What the locals consider mundane is really a cool experience for the outsider to be a part of. Good inspiration to just go out and explore...thanks

Well said. As a pilot, people think we get to “see” America. What they don’t realize is, once the aircraft is buttoned up, we’re whisked away in a car service or van to the Airport Hilton. That’s all we see, unless it’s a multi day trip.

The areas of the April 19, 1775 events are right here.

Few of the locals visit or know the reality.

Going down the Cape this week. Hoping Covid 19 doesnt dampen our fun. Place we are staying has a pool if beaches are off limits due to parking restrictions.

Got about two or three weeks left before kids are "back in school" planning a couple more trips.

They think I do this shit for them. Just checking curiosities off my list.
