Not a tactical bolt rifle, but...

Hey guys,

I recently bought several rifles from the estate of the father in law of a friend of mine. One of these rifles is a .22-250 single shot built on a Hall MFG action. Other than the fact that it is on a Hall MFG action I can not seem to find any other information as to who made the barrel (no visible markings besides the caliber), the trigger group, and the stock (can't find any markings on the stock either). Wondering if any of you guys would have any idea as to what I have. Here are some pictures:

I took it to the range where I shoot and asked the guy behind the counter and he basically said, "f-ed if I know." Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Give Hall a call and ask if they can tell you who they sold the action to (by serial number). You may have to follow the trail a little....

Paint it black, then it'll be a tactical bolt gun. Problem solved.

Does the son/daughter in law have access to any of the previous owners documents? With a rifle like that there is sure to be a receipt, or at least some sort of paperwork with it. Like Eagle1899 said, start with Hall and go from there.

Re: Not a tactical bolt rifle, but...

Brake may be a Vais.

I'd suggest keep it and shoot it.

What matters is lead on target, regardless of who made the barrel or put it together.

If you must know more about it, see Eagle's advice above.

Re: Not a tactical bolt rifle, but...

VERY NICE FIND. Take your rifle to a gun shop with a bore scope. They can point it at the back of the barrell, usually the manufacturer name is there. Not sure about the brake, the Vias holes are usually straight. See below

It shoots great and far exceeds my skill sets at the moment. Once I got the scope sighted in (I may send the scope off to Leupold for a re-reticle as it currently has a target dot reticle that I am not too crazy about) I was able to get a 3 shot group into cloverleaf shaped hole at the 100 yard mark. That target showed 2 flyers that were about a half inch out each that I am attributing to the fact that there was a guy sitting to the right of me shooting a 300 RUM and a guy sitting to the left of me that was shooting a 308 autoloader that was chucking spent shell casings at my head.
