Hello
This is my first post outside of the intro forum.

A while back I found a sporterized 03 that I picked up for like $300. After that I found another sporterized 03 with a weaver k3 on it. I dumped the left handed stock and picked up a replacement at Sarco. I got it finished but I'm not to happy with how light it is.

I tried finding a redfield base that would line up with the current drilled and tapped holes but couldn't. I actually like the 2 piece base as I can slip my thumb under the scope when walking in the woods. So I guess that'll stay for now.

Besides that it's just a Remington 1903a3. It's not the most accurate rifle I have but it's over 2moa right now. I know there's a lot more involved in fitting an 03 stock and I'll get to it eventually but it's hard really testing a gun since my 200 yard line I'm laying on roots on the side of a hill.

Nice! The post office destroyed the Hilux 2.5x that was on the JRA 1903A4 that I had bought so I'm currently waiting for a Weaver K6 to arrive to throw on it. Like the idea of more zoom, besides, supposedly there are real 1903A4 at the NRA museum with Weaver K4 scopes on them....

Try a heavier bullet, the Springfields were originally throwing 174gr and seemed to do pretty well.

Thanks, my initial trial with 165gr gameking wasn't promising. I started with 48gr w748 and velocity was extremely low and very erratic. I need to pull what I have and try again.

I've been on the look out for leupolds or weaver 6x because the 3x is OK for 200 yards I really wouldn't want to pick out antlers much farther than that.

The original M1 Ball ammo was loaded with IMR 1185 and 174-grain bullet with a BC of roughly 0.494 G1 which that achieved a muzzle velocity of 2,640 ft/s and muzzle energy of 2,692 ft·lbf (3,650 J).

This ammo eventually became National Match ammo after the Military went with M2 Ball during WWII which was 152gr. The original .30 M1 Ball ammo was supposed to better copy the WWI M1906 Load but with less fouling. It was more accurate that the M2 by far.

Leather die was recommended to darken in without stripping the oil out. This is after one coat of blo after the die. Its next to an m1 stock and my 1903 sporter stock that I posted above. Much better
