So I am looking for a credit card processor to work with my droid and I have discovered some interesting things I thought I would share about credit card processors and their stance on anything to do with firearm sales, parts or ammo. I signed up with Square and a week later the CEO of the company announces the company will not process payments for Sporting Goods and Firearms sales. So I contacted Pay Anywhere and that was their stance as well. The last company really struck a nerve with me and that company is Intuit. I filled out their online application and this is the response I received.
1. Please acknowledge and agree that ALL of your sales of Firearms, ammunition, gun parts and accessories will be conducted on a face to face basis with the credit card being present. The credit card must either be swiped or a manual imprint of the card taken.
2. Please provide a copy of your Federal Firearms License.
So basically they are telling me how I am going to run my business even though we have laws for that. I understand they have company rules and that is fine I will take my business elsewhere. Here was my response back to Intuit.
I have read your stipulations and I will take my business elsewhere. I do have a FFL and you might want to educate your company as you are allowed to sell certain Firearm Parts, Ammunition, and Accessories in non-face to face transactions under the laws in the country we live in. Furthermore you are allowed to sell firearms to individuals in a non-face to face transaction in a FFL transfer to their FFL dealer who will handle the back ground check and paper work. I am offended that Intuit is trying to tell me how to run my business when their role is to process the payment my role is to conduct my business practices within the laws of the Country we live in.
If this is the attitude that Intuit has against Firearm companies I will make sure I spread the word to others. I have been a Turbo Tax user for 10 years and I will not be using your product anymore from this point on. Please remove my application for credit card processing and delete all of my information.
