John,
I was was very happy with the mil class!
Starting out with the very basic understanding of what a "mil" is and what it looks like at 100yds was a real eye opener for me. In just the first few hours of the class I had learned enough to feel the attendance fee was money well spent.
The practical applications on day two at the live fire range just brought it all together for me. Now my range time is much better spent because I can go out and practice using my mil reticle to judge distances both known and unknown instead of just going out and shooting targets at marked distances. This has helped my field usage in hunting situations tremendously, as I now feel very comfortable using hold-overs for compensating for bullet drop instead of taking time to dial adjustments on live targets.
Your class gave me much better insight into figuring bullet path verses line of sight as well. I had a good understanding of ballistics tables, but never thought about using the mil system to figure the path of the projectile.
An advanced mil class would be one I would sign up for if ever it becomes available.
As for things I think would have made the class better, I fully agree with making it clear up-front to all students that equipment failures will not interfere with class progression. If a students equipment goes down, he should have alternate equipment or be willing to use yours. The learning would be the same as it would be on his own equipment.
All in all, I think the class was very worth the money I spent. The problems we encountered with the new optics was kind of unique, and I am in no way upset about the time it took from the class due to my own interest in such a new player in the optics game.
As for giving you schedules for future classes, you make the classes and I will arrange my schedule to attend.
Feel free to edit or copy any parts of this response as you need!
