I'm relatively new to the precision rifle game but have been a hunter all my life so I'm not new to distance shooting.. That being said, most of my shots have been in the 300-600 meter range. I'm really digging the ballistics the 300WM offers and have decided that it is the caliber I want to go with in a precision rifle. I would also like a precision folding chassis versus the standard stock. I know there's a lot more options that I need to decide on but am really not sure of what, why and all their benefits, respectively.
Considering that there's so much knowledgeable and experience on this site, I was hoping that you might be able and willing to offer some suggestions...

Thanks in advance!!

Will this gun be a range and competion rifle, or are we talking about something you are going to need to take hunting? If you are going to need to take it hunting what kind of hunting do you see your self using it for?

Too bad you did not post two weeks ago when EuroOptic was letting a few MRAD's go out the door for $4K. Do you like the Sako TRG-42?

Many of us have found the appeal of a switch barrel hard to resist, but if you don't need that the TRG-42 might be something to look at real hard.

Check out gun broker. The TRG-42 in 300WM is your best bet if don't want A change barrel system. I would urge you to buy an MRAD! You will save money in the long run if you just have one nice piece of glass on top.

There's a green Gen 2 MRAD 300WM on gunbroker.com with one day left. $4k

MPA BA Lite chassis rifle. Comes with a Stolle Atlas action, MPA barrel, etc... Not sure of all the other components offhand but I believe they're around the 3K range. Might check them out as they've had very favorable reviews!

well, are you set on 300wm? i mean if its not for hunting, and you mention ballistics why not a 6.5 creed or .260 rem? Those two will match ballistics(drop and wind) with less recoil. Only difference would be less energy (ft/lbs) on target. Check out the newer tikka ctr's with 24 inch barrel or the tikka tactical with folding stock, there are some great reviews out there. Guys in the PRS game are not using 300wm. Check our the precison rifle blog too.

If your heart is set on 300wm the Sako trg mentioned earlier is a great rifle, i have a trg in .338 and its a tack driver, prob the most accurate rifle i own.

EDIT: DTFUSA Do you want a factory .300wm or a custom? Out of curiosity what kind of glass would you top it off with?
