Novice question on Rifling

I have factory Remington 700 Varmit in .223 in an HS Stock with Jard trigger and in shoots sub minute groups with quality factory ammo.*

Now, I would like to shoot precision matches on the cheap with a factory Remington 700 Varmit in .308.*

My concern is that the factory rifle comes with a twist of 1:12 and it will not work well with 175 Grain rounds.*

Is my concern valid?*

I am not ready yet for a trued action or a custom rifle.

Berger shows 1 in 13 twist or faster. Their bullets are similar enough that you will be good. Just an FYI the Berger data shows your max bullet weight is 185 with a 1 in 12

my 12 twist 700PSS will shoot the crap out of the 175 SMK,,shoots about the same with 4064,RL15,Varget,H4895
