The last of the panic buying pre 41f forms are slowly being cleared out of the system. There were more silencers sold in the 30 days prior to 41f taking effect, that have been sold in the next 10 months post 41f combined. What this means, is that there will be little for the NFA branch to process very soon. And this leads to drastically reduced wait times.

Due to the sales slump, dealers including myself have alot of Silencers in stock that normally come with a backorder wait. So, now is the time to buy. Enjoy the selection, lower pricing and reduced wait times.

I have most everything from Thunderbeast, Dead Air Armament, and Silencerco ready to go. It's ridiculous to wait on congress to make a decision, before you make yours.

The question is how long will it take for them to clear out pre 41f forms. The latest form 4 ive received back is dated July 5th, so they should have that last big week of forms to process.

Once these are gone, there's no reason for wait times to be over 4 or maybe 5 months, with what they have to process. I wouldn't be surprised if it's even faster for a while. At least until sales get going again.

The problem I see for post 41f stuff is that now there is additional paperwork for them to process per form 4 for a trust. There are now the fingerprint cards and photos for each person on the trust, and each questionnaire to check for mistakes, in addition to the normal paperwork. New processes that they have to learn means additional time as well, and more possible mistakes on their part. I'd like to be optimistic as I have three cans soon to be in process, but I'm sure there were plenty of forms that missed the deadline that will be looked at and returned due to missing the new paperwork, and that will slow it down even more.

I personally don't see wait times getting better for quite awhile. Yes, there will be less forms to process, but each form will require many new, additional steps and approvals.

I do believe it will speed up, due to the number of forms in the system. Even though trusts require more paperwork. Alot of people have decided not to use a trust since 41f and somr others have amended their trusts to list only themselves. Besides that, the actual number of forms is a drastic decrease. At the beginning of May, over 90 percent of forms awaiting approval were pre 41f.

Ehh... I made ONE suppressor purchase since the damn new rules... and I swore to never do it again. Pain in the ass!!! And even more expensive now having to pay a fee to use my local dealer's Silencershop Kiosk and then buying dinner for all the people on my trust I had to drag along for an afternoon of fingerprinting and forms.

I'm very skeptical of the HPA passing any time soon... but I am damn near certain the politicians will remove the $200 tax refund since they never give us tax money back years after the fact. There's also no proof that new suppressor transfers will be any quicker. For all we know, they could start laying off their new hires or just reduce their overtime hours.

Honestly I think it's just as easy now as it was before, given I'm the only one on my trust. I buy all my stuff from Capitol Armory and they make it painless.

I did electronic prints when I was in the store picking something up, and got an app on my phone to do the passport photo. Now when I buy I have to digitally sign the form 4 and it's done.

I got started late late and bought my first can April 2016 pre 41f. I have bought 3 post 41f and I'll be getting 2 more sometime this summer.

Unless the Hearing Protection Act passes, I don't see suppressor sales going up that much anytime soon. I feel bad for the people in the suppressor business, as their sales went through the roof pre 41f and have all but disappeared since. I guess that is a risk of working in such a heavily regulated business. I had 1 suppressor with a check cash date of 6/1/16, my stamp was received in March. It took 9.5 months. My Omega has a check cashed date of 1/12/17. I'm not expecting the wait times to crash and have any meaningful effect on my wait time. Its been almost 5 months already.

I have said it before, suppressor sales will surge again. HPA is a pipe dream folks have been holding off purchasing, in lieu of. Suppressors are experiencing unprecedented popularity. If you look at the political climate midterms could be a bloodbath for Republicans. Finally, I am having real problems seeing the math for a second Trump term. The math from last time won't work again, in my opinion.

You can do a single shot trust for each SilencerShop item, then add others to the trust(s) after stamps are in hand. $25 for the single shot trust, or $130 or so for unlimited silencershop single shot purchases.
Or just create a new trust, grantor and trustee, then you only need to drag one other to the kiosk, unless their prints and pics and whatever else is already stored.

You did the hard part, future sales should be streamlined.

BTW, how much did your local shop charge to use the kiosk?

Say your normal trust has 10 people on it. Pre 41f,not a problem. Now it's a big pain. So you make a trust with the minimum amount of people, and it might be easier.

You are not required to submit fingerprints for people you add to the trust, only the people on the trust at the time of application for the stamp.

So file for stamp as only person on trust, submit fingerprints for yourself, then add and remove people to trust after stamp is received.

Also from what I understand it is possible to sell trusts and the possessions of the trust. It is something done very often on expensive homes as a means of avoiding taxes because the asset does not change hands, just the control of the trust that owns that asset. Kinda a grey area, consult with your attorney before attempt, but logically it makes sense to me.

Same here. I have my check cashed date of 1/12. It looks like I will wait just as long for this one as I did on my spectre which was submitted in June 20016.

Forms submitted earlier in the year are slow because all the pre 41f forms are still ahead of them. Forms submitted after all the pre 41f are cleared out will move quickly. Thise are almost cleared out now. Things will catch up soon

It seems silly doesn't it. If you buy a suppressor after almost a year later than the 41f change, you are finally getting into the backlog that doesn't include the forms submitted in the rush. I know I was really anxious at how long it took me to get my first can and that was 10 months, I would have been livid if I were in the same wait times as the people now.

I am also buying with a trust with myself the only one on it. After I get some more items I'm gonna add the people I need in there.
