Hello,
I thought I'd post this question here since it's rimfire related. I'm interested in shooting an NRL 22 match, and there are 2 matches about 50 miles from me (1 north and 1 south).

I emailed the match director for the match north of me asking for info and about the match fees. He emailed me back and said the match isn't open to outsiders... Seems like it's against the spirit of NRL22...

I emailed the match director south of me and they were more welcoming to newcomers. I didn't get a straight answer on the match fees, and I emailed back for clarification, but my email wasn't answered. Can any of you make sense of this?

"Each round of participation on special games are $1.00 per shot. The full target board is $5.00 and this is per game played. We typically play 5 games. You can play as many games as you like.
We do have a $5.00 fee, which helps us to stock the IBS Rimfire targets used.
Practicing rounds are used with the individuals target or you can buy an extra target- $2.50 per sheet if you wish to use the actual targets as practice. We typically go through an average of 150-250 rounds each event. Not including practice fire. "

Does that sound like a $5 match fee and then $5 for each stage, so $30. Then "Bonus Stages" that are $1 per shot? I've never shot NRL22, or any type of PRS match. Just trying to make sense of it all.

Or is there a typical flat fee that matches normally run? The next closest NRL22 match is about 120 miles from me. Wondering if I should contact them.

The matches I attend here in MO, west of St. Louis, are all $20. I am not a member of the range and I think members pay a little less. That includes the standard 5 NRL22 stages plus one or two bonus stages for fun and extra points (not counted towards the official NRL22 scores).

That is my only reference. Good luck on getting this sorted out and attending. It is a great time!

I have no clue what that gibberish is he quoted you on per game and per target board.

Most matches down this way are $20 per shooter. But it’s up to MD as nrl22 just takes a flat rate per month per club to keep track of scores.

Is the first club you contacted a private range and the range rules don’t allow for many non members, or is it the actual nrl22 club that just doesn’t want non locals shooting? If it’s the latter, I’d probably email nrl22 just to let them know. Definitely doesn’t sound in the spirit of what the organization is trying to do. If it’s the range rules, then the local nrl22 club’s hands are tied.

It's a guy running the match on his personal property. The match is just for him and his friends. The guy even has his own YouTube channel of him shooting on his own range and talks about NRL22 on it as well.

The last one you mentioned wouldn't happen to be in Scottsburg, would it?

That's the one!

Good to know about Somerset. Like you, I'm in Louisville. It looks like it's about the same distance from Louisville to Somerset, or Louisville to Evansville. There is another match in Evansville I've thought about looking into.
