Nucleus and TL3 availability.

Building another 6 creed and deciding between the two. I have a mausingfield and love it, but if I can spend a few hundred less and love another action as much, I will. When will venders have the nucleus ready to ship? It seems I have found a few tl3s that are ready to ship. Are their any major differences I should be aware of between the nucleus and tl3 other than 3 vs 2 lug?

If you didn't pre-order the nucleus back in January I don't think you'll be seeing one soon. It appears a lot were ordered (before they stopped taking orders) and they are being filled in a first in first out order. If time is a factor than I'd imagine you could get the big Horn in hand faster as the first Nucleus actions haven't been reported as shipped yet.

That said, if the TL3 is on your radar and you don't mind a non-integrated recoil lug check out the big Horn origin. They said they're shooting for an August release and still taking orders. Might be a happy middle ground for you for price/performance.

Between the Nucleus and the TL3, the TL3 has an integral recoil lug, a higher end finish, and current availability of both the action and various parts for the action (rails, bolt faces, action wrenches, etc). In addition, the TL3 is a known quantity with the bugs worked out.

To be fair, I'm probably biased, as I sold everything off and switched to Bighorns only. A move I've been quite happy with.

Ok thanks guys, sounds like maybe the tl3 competes more with the mausingfield and the origin and nucleus may be on the same level? I would rather not do the pre order thing then realize there's some bugs to get worked out.

I wouldn't expect there to be bugs with an action from either company. There's a lot riding on them. We'll have to wait and see. I'm waiting on one of each

There were at least 1,000 more or so ordered after my order was placed, so it might be until August-October ish before they're really available.

There is another value action introduced recently and much closer to shipping.

I forget the details but about $900, you should be able to find it pretty easy because it's a low cost version of a popular action.

Are you referring to the Defiance Tenacity? I talked to Defiance on May 13th and they said the next batch of Tenacity actions would be ready to ship out in 30-45 days (so 2-4 weeks from now).

It's a bit of a stripped down Rebel, but should be a solid option. I personally won't use a Defiance action just because I shoot in conditions too dirty (if I got one I'd order it to Cerakote specs to give a little bit of extra tolerance), but they make great guns if you can keep them clean. I admittedly tend to leave my rifles dirtier than I should more often than I should, so knowing myself I won't buy one but I love how they look and feel.

I have a Nucleus on order so I try to avoid temptation. If that wasn't the case, I would probably have been all over the specs by now.

I'm a big fan of both companies that you mentioned; having both Bighorns and Mausingfields. However, you may want to consider the Impact actions. There's a write up here somewhere on them and they are definitely winning matches with them. I've handled one in a foundation stock and was pretty impressed. The Impacts are available to ship now from my understanding.

ARC introduced Nucleus and the order volume exploded. They have lots of actions to make.

I always wanted a TL3, but could never justify the price. I've currently got an Origin on order. All the important features of a TL3 at a much lower price point.

Care to share where you heard the mid-June date from? I put in my nucleus order about 6 hours after it went live and I’ve not heard anything from ARC about it yet. Eventually they will have to get fro info from me. Other than @bohem updates, I haven’t heard anything since my order was placed and PVA didn’t release specifics or really anything on ship dates. Just curious what your source is, thanks.

FWIW, I still ordered 2 Nuclei.

ARC had one supplier drop the ball, and has brought production in house.

Delivery slipped from late April to late May to soon for early pre-orders but they probably won't reopen ordering until most of the pre-orders are delivered. That's going to be a while just due to the volume of orders.

The Origin is still months away from it's scheduled delivery date.

The Defiance Tenacity sounds like it will actually be shipping soon instead of many months if you get in line now.

That seems like the only new option that will be available soon. Also in the product announcement they also said they plan to keep it stocked and offer only a few configurations to simplify ordering.

At this point it seems like the most fully baked.

I have a Nucleus on order too so I won't be ordering an Origin or Tenacity, I just have a calendar.

My mid-June estimate was based off the latest information from @bohem's update in mid-May, which is the latest information anyone has.

Anyway, the way it's looking is that the very first actions for JHR's are going to ship to PVA at the last couple days of May. The first actions being shipped to customers are for the Hancocks, not Nucleus, as we placed a large PO before the project was ever announced and that was part of the deal. Retail actions are coming immediately after that and Ted's looking to be shipping to FFL's too.

If the first actions are shipped in the last days of May (right around now) and retail actions are coming immediately after that my best guess was that retail actions might ship sometime around mid-June. That would be, at least to me, immediately afterwords but I could be entirely wrong. I probably should have made that more clear in my original posting.

Sorry, I don't have any insider information that nobody else has access to! Just using what we've all been told and extrapolating from there. Either way, the action certain is unlikely to ship out before mid-June.

You're right, the first Nucleus might be shipping soon but ARC is going to be doing them in batches that are going to be weeks apart and several batches before all of the pre-orders are filled.

Way back when during SHOT show, when Nucleus pre-ordering was open, they said there were so many orders coming in that waiting hours to pre-order could result in a weeks later delivery.

If one batch is weeks, how many batches did they sell through pre-order?

You can't get in line now but if you could, you would have a big wait.

I waffled a few days waiting to see the first ARC Nucleus videos coming out of SHOT but I think I ordered before the hours to weeks rush. I think I screwed myself waiting. Looking at the order numbers, I don't think my Nucleus will be in one of the first batches but I'm pretty sure there will be several batches of pre-order actions going out after mine. If the first Nucleus goes out tomorrow, I'll feel lucky if I get mine some time in July. I would not want to get in the back of that line if I wanted something soon.

I don't think I'm being terribly pessimistic here, just connecting the dots.

So for people saying the nucleus will get finished up and start shipping late May, it is now June 1st and I don’t know anyone who has even been contacted by ARC regarding the nucleus let alone receiving one.

As far as the mid June delivery date, I think that would be optimistic as well. Maybe I’m overestimating the logistics of getting everyone’s ffl’s and payments in order, but I think that process itself would take a week or 2 assuming the actions were sitting on the shelf ready to go. I should be in the first batch and there has been no contact made by ARC since my order confirmation email on January 16th. I’m in no rush, we should just avoid fake news in the process.

I mean, the end of May ship date for the first actions to PVA and the immediately afterwords stuff came right from someone who is in frequent and regular contact with Ted from ARC. I wouldn't call that fake news, though the "immediately afterwords" is definitely subject to interpretation.

I got my .475 bolt head nucleus (order 26xx) and barloc invoice last night from Ted. I had a .420 bolt head (224V) order ahead of it but they are shipping .475s first.

If actions are indeed shipping out in this coming week, it would appear that "mid-June" was indeed the correct interpretation of immediately afterwords. I know it was an optimistic guess, but I'm glad that it's shaping up well because it means everyone will get their long awaited actions on time AND it means that ARC has been able to reasonably recover from their earlier production troubles to start cranking them out.

My barloc is on the same invoice as my 26xx order, I have a 27xx order (no invoice) and my 224V bolt head invoice (21xx) - no invoice. So they are eager to ship me the barloc and the 308 bolt head it seems

Im not as patient as yall ha ha. I did get my build done last week though and so far I am pretty happy with the tl3. there are some things i like about the mausingfield more but they only justify the additional cost.
