I'm contemplating the purchase of a NXS 2.5-10 to go on a 308. The thing that has me hesitating is that there doesn't seem to be any BDC for the nxs. Do most people wind up counting clicks from their zerostop up to whatever range they're going to shoot? That seems slow and painful to me. I'd like to get to 800 yards with it and this means there's >1 turn on the elevation knob to get there. So maybe a bdc would get too cluttered up anyway (since a 7 might go right beside a 2 or something)?? This issue has me considering the leupold 2.5-8 with the m2 knobs.

I'd be interested to hear from a few of the apparently many nxs owners on how they've solved this problem. Thanks.

Re: NXS bdc?

A BDC does not compensate diddly. It's just numbers on a dial.

The regular NXS dial has numbers. If you buy the one that has .25 MOA adjustments, you have 3 hashs, then 1, 3 hashs, then 2.

So if you want to hit a target @ 350 yds, and your drop chart says 6.5 MOA, you dial to 6.5 and send it. You don't count clicks.

If you buy the one that has Mil adjustments, you will have 9 hashs then 1, and so on. If your drop chart says 1.9 Mils for a 350 yd target, you dial 1.9 and send it. Again you don't count clicks.

So no you don't count clicks. You dial whatever number necessary to adjust for the drop at that range.

Re: NXS bdc?

Look at the high speed turrets. They are only on the 3-15 and 5-22. I have two and they are very nice(20 moa per rev). Kenton industries will make you custom BDC dials.

As for counting clicks, no most people do not count every click. if you need thirty two and a half moa for example, you just count the whole numbers to 32 moa and add two clicks.(rather than count 130 clicks!!)On the hi speed it would be just over one and a half rev(as compared to over three revs on the older NXS and the current 2.5-10)

If you want to shoot LR you would be much better served by the 3-15( I prefer the 5-22 but to each his own). The 2.5 -10 is a great hunting or mid range scope but in my opinion is very lacking for long range work.

Re: NXS bdc?

don't waste money on BDC knobs. they are cut for one set of conditions.

for example, you change 40 degrees in temp and now your 800 yard mark on your BDC is 6 to 8 inches off for your 308.

use the factory knobs on the NXS and dial your dope or use the reticle.
