Now im new to reloading and was wondering how much to set back when using the Hornady OAL tool.
I am using (2) AR setups, 6.5 Grendel - .223/5.56

Now I heard after you find/touch the lands with the tool/bullet and then to seat back .020".
Is this any different when loading for Semi's? Or no difference at all? I also heard you could seat back as far as .015" but should use a comparator to measure from the ogive.
Im thinking u should use a comparator nomatter what.
I have yet to purchase a comparator but it is on my list.
Should I be o.k. using the Hornady OAL tool and seating back .020" for my AR's?

I got the "Original Bob Sled" to single shot. Moslty the
Hornady 75gr A-MAX bullets but may try others just try them out.

Thanks

On the 223, I seat to 2.045". This will fit in any 223/5.56 mags. The 6.5 G depends on how it's chambered, but I would think it would be about the same. Seat some bullets a little longer at a time until you see rifling marks on the bullet. Or seat it out until you reach your max mag length. Then it won't matter.
