I am getting started with loading up the 155s but since they are so long....if anyone can give me some OAL they are using to get me started..I'd appreceiate it...

GAP M40A3...with Badger mag....It just seems loading them below 2.82 length seems like it may compress the load..since the round is so much longer than a 175gr.

Re: OAL for loaded 155gr. scenars

Do you know how far out they touch the lands? If its a Gap build then Gap should be able to tell you how they throated the barrel, I would go .10 off the lands and work from there.

I just loaded some up for my Savage 10FP and averaged 2.873" which is a few thous short of mag length and about .020" off my throat which has about 3000 rounds through it.

They shot well out to 450 yds Friday, using 210Ms, Win brass with 2 cycles and 46.5grs of Varget for close to 2900 fps.

I,m betting you didnt tell GAP to throat long to take advantage of DBM and 155scenar

GAP normally does chambers tight min specs, i might be wrong but betting your hard in lands @ 2.820

No biggie
Preston n ncrew cam mod mags so you can feed @ 2.990, notch feed ramp
47.8vargay @2.900 OAL rocks

As always if ya let gunsmith have right info all above is mute

Re: OAL for loaded 155gr. scenars

2.800" is a long way from the lands in any factory rifle.

My lands are about 2.905 IIRC. I load about .010" shorter.

My (fixed) magazine is 2.840" long or so.

Your chamber is likely much shorter than mine.

Re: OAL for loaded 155gr. scenars

so the 155s are ok with jumping the lands? OAL dont seem to make too much difference in my M40 with 175s but I figure that the 155s are so much longer that if you try to get the same lengths as 175s your going to compress the rounds

Re: OAL for loaded 155gr. scenars

I'm my factory SPS-V I'm running them at 2.2" to the ogive which is around 2.82 OAL IIRC. In FC cases with a BR-2 and 46.5gr of 4895 I'm getting about 3/4 moa and ~2950fps. I have to drop the powder slowly and I still get a slight crunch.

I don't think you can seat a bullet long enough to hit the lands in a Rem chamber.

Re: OAL for loaded 155gr. scenars

I went with 2.815 for not particular reason I can recall. I had intended to figure out my chamber specs and set the bullet just a bit back from the lands but my afor mentioned load ran like a champ in my AW so I never bothered to mess with it.

I wonder if this is common with all rems

My 700P seems to have a long chamber as well
