Re: OBR 18.... SHE CAN SHOOT

If you roll your own.... It just gets better.

I personally think you just picked up the best AR-10 platform on the market... I recently picked up Larue's new LT120 mount to work with my NF/20" OBR combo. I found the 20 moa base along with the LT111 would not give me a proper cheek weld... I was still able to shoot sub moa groups. It's almost like they shoot themselves.

If your interested in a sf brake I have a take off from my OBR... I run a TBAC brake now in conjunction with the arrival of my TBAC 30-BA.

Re: OBR 18.... SHE CAN SHOOT

I just placed an order for a 20" 308 last week and a 16" 556, let the wait begin :'( But on the plus side it is pretty much assured to arrive before S&B ever releases the 1-8. First time buying larue but I've tried a few other flavors of AR in 308 and been sorely dissapointed, so hopefully Mr. Larue will be the one who gets it right!

Re: OBR 18.... SHE CAN SHOOT

It will be fine. The reason the wait is so long is they won't sell direct to ca residents. Got to go through a FFL here to get one. The one in my area has 18 people in line and will not order more than 5 at a time. Larue said the build time is about 16 weeks give or take a few. I would have to wait for 3 - 4 cycles of ordering 5 and waiting 16 weeks before I would have a chance to spend a lot of money for one.

Re: OBR 18.... SHE CAN SHOOT

Does this have the new xtranx chamber ?
If so, are you planning to reload for it? Heard some chatter about that hosing up brass. I can't find any info on it from someone that isn't visiting the rodeo for the first time.

Perhaps my new suppressors will be ready to go as well at the same time then, I put the paperwork in about 2 weeks ago. I could have bought a 16" and had it immediately but I figured for 308 may as well go 20" since I already have a scar.

Thanks for the heads up.

Re: OBR 18.... SHE CAN SHOOT

The OBR is worth the wait. I have had a few other AR10 platforms and at least in my mind my OBR is on a dif. level. When I want to go have fun shooting or hunting it is the first gun in the safe I grab. I have to say.... I really have my eye on an OBR Lite. Thinking 16 or 18 inch anyone played with one?

thx

Re: OBR 18.... SHE CAN SHOOT

contacted la rue and was told i have approx 4-6 weeks remaining before getting my 18" OBR, really looking forward to it. been buying ammo given the political situation just in case. now i need to focus on glass

Re: OBR 18.... SHE CAN SHOOT

The LMT is a fine rifle too. If your wanting an AR10 and no wait And if you want optimal accuracy, get thev18 SS Barrel. I have a 16 CL and it shoots 1 inch groups all day long. I would like an 18 SS BARREL.

Just a thought if your wanting a badass AR10 and ont want the wait.

Re: OBR 18.... SHE CAN SHOOT

I ordered my OBR (16" barrel) just over 3 weeks ago and received in this past Monday. So much for the wait....maybe I just got lucky.

xtranx chamber leaves the swirly black marks on the brass but I've already reloaded some of it and have had no problems whatsoever. cleans right up and looks like new after sizing and tumbling.

As for accuracy, it puts 5 rounds into an IPSC paster at 100yds and I was easily able hit 8" and 10" steel targets at 700yds. Shooting hand loads 43gr of RL-15 + 175gr SMK's. I couldn't be more pleased with mine.

Re: OBR 18.... SHE CAN SHOOT

I'm looking at getting the same mount for my OBR. I want a low cheek weld but want need the 50mm objective bell to clear the rail. Sounds like you've accomplished this. Were you able to mount a rear backup sight under the scope with this mount?

Re: OBR 18.... SHE CAN SHOOT

You have to love this kind of accuracy from an AR. Finally got my 16" OBR out to a little distance today. The rifle shoots much better than I can get out of it, but even I managed almost 1 MOA at 617yd.
