An AR upper I assembled for a friend is striking offcenter on the primers. I took it apart, put it all back together (thought maybe I didn't torque the barrel properly the first time) and it's still doing it. Firing pin hole seems to be centered in the bolt, chamber isn't out of spec (no abnormal case growth).

Any thoughts as to what is causing this? It goes bang every time and he is happy with it but I'm a bit annoyed because I can't find a culprit.

I'll see if I can get some pics up in a minute. It's about half the thickness of the firing pin, maybe a bit more.

How does the rifle shoot now? Does it fire dependably? If it shoots well and fires without incident what does it matter? I get off center strikes on a regular basis but as long as the above mentioned criteria are met then I don't concern myself with things of little to no consequence.
