    <span style="font-weight: bold">2010 Sniper's Hide Cup</span>

This is my <span style="text-decoration: underline">official</span> thank you to everyone involved in the 2010 Sniper's Hide Cup held at Rifles Only.

This had to be one of our most ambitious matches to date. Not only did we open the competitor list up to more shooters than normal, we included two helicopter stages, which in itself is a bit crazy.

    <span style="font-weight: bold">To all the competitors:</span>

Thank you for your professionalism, and patience, it is much appreciated. We put this match on for you guys, and believe me you are definitely some of the best shooters in the world. This stuff is hard and you never cease to amaze me how well you all step up to the challenge.

I want to single out a couple of shooters, first Bill Fowler, who exemplifies the adage about <span style="font-style: italic">"old age and treachery"</span>. What an outstanding shooter, who cleaned the walk in drill, which for those at home it is basically a 1 MOA target from 500 to 100 yards. He shot 15 for 15 in a 20MPH wind, and not only that continues to place in the top 10.

Tom Fuller, man, he came to his first tactical rifle match with a 20" 338LM Barrett and kicked serious ass. No one has ever placed in the Top 10 with a 338 and Tom not only did it with a Barrett 98b, he did with a Bushnell scope. That's not a slag on Bushnell but when you are used to seeing a lot of $2000 glass on the line, its refreshing to see someone come along and place with a piece of kit that cost less than a case of his ammo.

Jim Rosasco, thank you Jim for your work on the targets and always being there to help out.

"The Docs" for being on call.

To Wade, Terry and Jeff... our Top 3 shooters. Outstanding job each and every one of you.

Rob01 for winning the Barrett Stage and Graham for winning the POF stage. Nice job both of you.

Remember this when you move on,

<span style="text-decoration: underline">"Guys with Muzzle Brakes cannot complain about guys with Muzzle Brakes".</span>

    <span style="font-weight: bold">To the range Staff</span>

Lindy, Lisa, John, Wynn, and Miles my sincerest gratitude for helping make the Sniper's Hide Cup what it is. You guys are the backbone of the match. As well I want to thank Lisa's brother James for the outstanding BBQ.

Special thanks to John from http://oakwoodcontrols.com/ for bringing out the electronic scoring targets we used.

    <span style="font-weight: bold">To Rifles Only & Lisa and Jacob,</span>

I can't say this enough, not only is Rifles Only the best place to hold the Sniper's Hide Cup, it's been the only place and you two are the reason behind it. Lisa who tirelessly works behind the scenes to make sure everyone, and I mean everyone knows what they are doing. You guys sitting at your computers have no clue how much goes into putting a match on, and what it takes to answer the same questions 70 times a week. Lisa crosses the "t's" and dots the "I's" and its appreciated. Jacob, well he has to put up with me hour after hour, with constant changes to his course of fire. I bitch about berms and act like a baby when things don't go as planned, even though we don't have a plan. He quarterbacks these events and their success is direct result of his vision of what a tactical match should be. Both of you are family and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Rifles Only is like my second home, and you both make it so.

    <span style="font-weight: bold">****The Match Sponsors****</span>

To everyone reading this, the prize table this year exceeded $100,000 and it was because of the following people. Please, if you skip every word I wrote, do me one favor and recognize these companies for their outstanding support. Understand these people could easily invest their money in print advertising, instead they all chose to give back to the community -- the shooters, which is all of you. Think of them first before you buy, and even if you didn't attend the match, send them a Thank You email.

    <span style="text-decoration: underline">Barrett</span>

Guys the people at Barrett went above and beyond. They not only made sure you got another couple of minutes in the helicopter, they put not one, but 2 of their rifles only the line for us to Shoot.

Kyle Lynch and Laura Goetsch, thank you both for supporting Sniper's Hide and its members with your generous support, we really appreciate it.

I ask every member to email Ronnie Barrett and thank him personally. It doesn't take much, just a note saying you recognize their support of this community. Basically sight unseen they supported the site and its members in a way we haven't seen before.

Barrett is such a recognized name in the military community and they are stepping up big time to support the civilian shooting world, so understand, they are not just for governments, they are making products for each and every one of us.

    www.barrett.net

Along with Barrett, I want to personally thank Nathan Hunt of HUDISCO for providing us the Hensoldt 3-12X scope that was on the 98b. Not only did you supply the scope, it was part of the package for winner of the Barrett Helicopter Stage. Nathan is a great supporter of Sniper's Hide and we are big fans of the Zeiss Tactical line of scopes. So drop Nathan an email and say thank you for his generous support.

    <span style="text-decoration: underline">POF</span>

What can I say, Frank D., from POF has been supporting Sniper's Hide and our matches since the first time you heard we have been using a helicopter. His support has been automatic and unwavering. He's a great guy to be around and makes himself available to every single competitor and just plan loves this stuff. Please contact Frank and say thank you.

    <span style="text-decoration: underline">GA Precision</span>

This site has a very long relationship with GA Precision. Not only do I call each of them friends, but their support of the shooting community is the stuff of legends. Back when we started the matches, George was always there for a prize rifle. Each and every competition we had a GAP on the table, and this year, I figured I would give them a break and I never asked for one. Well wouldn't you know it, I didn't have to ask, Moon shows up with a GAP Rock for the prize table. It was honestly unexpected and sincerely appreciated. When some one asks why GAP, simply point to this.

    Thanks George & Co.

    <span style="text-decoration: underline">Nighthawk Custom</span>

Guys, Nighthawk is new to the custom tactical rifle business and already they have stepped up to support this community for a second year in a row. Each time they have made a point to reach out and offer up a rifle for the prize table. We were lucky enough to have another great rifle from Nighthawk. Great products from Great guys, who make of point of support you, so please consider and support them in return.

Visit their site, look at their new precision rifles and please, say thank you from the members of Sniper's Hide.

    <span style="text-decoration: underline">Desert Tactical Arms</span>

This year's "Top Gun" was provided by Nick Young of Desert Tactical Arms. It was great having Nick down here, showing off his rifles. They are great systems and actually work exactly as advertised. We don't just let anyone give us a "Top Gun" it has to work and the DTA does. For such a new company, man are they doing great things.

    www.deserttacticalarms.com/

Below is a complete list of the sponsors and believe me, no one sponsor is worth more than any other, so if you could, please send out an email to as many as possible. A lot of these guys are small business owners, so you should absolutely be supporting them before anyone else. These are the companies who have invested back into this community, so please invest in them.

Re: **Official 2010 Sniper's Hide Cup Thank You***

I would like to thank another that is not on the list and that is you Frank!!

    The whole match was outstanding!!!

The prize table was unbelievable! The sponsors that this site has is truely amazing. Thanks to all of them for everything.

Jacob, Lisa, Lindy, Lisa and the rest of the crew that made this match safe and a blast, THANK YOU

Thanks to all that "tried" to help me, then realizing that there is no help.

I can't wait till the Bash. (Frank make it 3 days)

    Thanks

    Mike aka Mick

Re: **Official 2010 Sniper's Hide Cup Thank You***

Thank you Frank for all your hard work this past weekend. Without you, Jacob, Lisa, Lisa, Lindy and the rest of the crew at Rifles Only the match wouldn't have even taken place.

Jim also deserves a thank you because he did do alot and also kept the bunkhouse clean. Also thanks to him for not beating Tony so I can still shoot with my team mate
    wink.gif
    See you at Reade Jim.

I have already contacted Nathan and have an email in to Kyle at Barrett to thank him and get ahold of Mr Barrett personally. Everyone should thank atleast the people who donated the gear they received, the major sponsors so we can show that we appreciate the large donations and even atleast 3 or 4 of the smaller donations to show that they weren't forgotten. If you have the time even a mass email to all would be good. Sponsors like to hear feedback.

Re: **Official 2010 Sniper's Hide Cup Thank You***

THANKS to all the sponsors. The prize table was INSANE. Frank was still getting phone calls from people that wanted to send something for the prize table one night we were out for dinner.

Frank, you Jacob, Lisa and the staff did a GREAT job on this match. It is always a pleasure to come out and shooting this match.

Re: **Official 2010 Sniper's Hide Cup Thank You***

Wow, what a ride! I have just settled in after a long yesterday of fighting Spring Break traffic and 40mph headwinds.

The match was phenomenal. Each Cup I attend sets a new standard to judge other matches.

Two frigging helicopters, man. TWO! The grounds were saturated with representatives from the shooting industry. You couldn’t turn around without tripping over a vendor. Not to mention, they were all prone next to us shooting the match! It was awesome.

Looks like Bushnell is coming out with some great optics in FFP. I think Tom Fuller proved its durability punishing it (and us, lol) with a full week of riding a Barrett .338LM. The brake on the Barrett seemed highly effective. He laid down right next me when I wasn’t looking and torched that thing off which caused me to shit my socks.

Speaking of Barrett, all I can say is “Damn!” They were a great crew and put the bling-bling on Rifles Only. It was impressive. It was like SHOT all over again. Guys, thanks a million! There were Barrett signs at all the intersections as we were driving in from Kingsville. Todd and I were just looking at each saying, “Man, this is gonna be awesome…..” It was. Bringing the heat like that really makes for loyal customers. Your efforts do not go unnoticed and will not be forgotten.

Also, POF sponsored a helicopter as they have done every year I have attended. Thanks Frank!!!! I spent a lot of time shooting the shit with Frank on the line. I don’t know who was more excited; us for getting to fly, or him for bringing the helicopter. It was frigging awesome! POF has some new concepts they are moving forward with that sound exciting. Everyone needs to buy their gassers from POF so we can keep the whirly-birds fueled up and in the air!

There was so much support and so many things going on that I’m having a hard time remembering them all. The free beer, whiskey, and scotch the last night may be contributing to that. Thanks to all who chipped in on that
    wink.gif

The prize table, or tables, had high-end gear just piled up on them. A quick math formula told me I would get something kick-ass even for my 97th place. My initial plan was to just grab all the shit I could and make a run for it. But, I knew Miles with keeping surveillance on me. So I stole one of Jacob’s magic markers instead. Want it back? Too bad, I sniffed it all up.

The funniest thing I heard all night was when toddacguy came running from the prize table to the truck. His eyes were wide open and yelling, “Holy shit! There were so many AR parts on the prize table that I’m going to build a complete rifle on the ride home tomorrow!”

I think there was enough TAB gear for everyone. I scored a biathlon sling. It was just in time too because I had two drinks in my hands and was unable to carry my rifle. Thanks Tony!!!!

I scored some other great stuff, too. I used a little white out and a scanner on Kyle Lynch’s letter to us from Barrett. It appears I am now getting a free Barrett and I’ll be making a phone call tomorrow to go ahead and cash that in.

It was good to see old friends and made some new ones. Pete Pi and Jared Joplin are some funny mofo’s. SFC Carpentier, always a pleasure, man. You know I’m going to put the screws to you now after razzing me so much
    wink.gif
I’ll see everyone else at the Bash!

There were 60+ shooters at the match. There is like 35K members here. Even if you didn’t shoot, the match sponsors are still supporting you and this sport. Please send them a thank you email even if you didn’t compete and are just reading this. In fact, let’s crash their servers with 35,000 thank you emails!!!!!!! Who can really get mad at that? Crank’em out!

Rifles Only, Lowlight, and Sponsors: Thank you.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Also, POF sponsored a helicopter as they have done every year I have attended.
    </div></div>

CKA, you are right dude. Frank from POF went around talking to everyone during the match. POF of course again paid for the fuel and also provided the POF to shoot out of the Helo with. It just to bad that I was only able to shoot three rounds out of.

Also it was GREAT to go out to dinner with you, Todd AC, Chad TRG 42 and Lowlight on his birthday. He loves telling stories about the drama on the HIDE.

Re: **Official 2010 Sniper's Hide Cup Thank You***

I want to add a special thanks to John from Oakwood controls who brought the electronic target we used. John was extremely patient with the timing and the events for his chance to show off his system which worked very well.

The guys really enjoyed the scoring system and everyone was huddled around John on the computer as the shots were scored. He was also able to sit down with several guys to show them their group later in the day.

I really appreciate John coming down and I wish the weather cooperated a bit more so we could have continued with the second computer scored event.

Re: **Official 2010 Sniper's Hide Cup Thank You***

Thanks for a great 1st time at RO. Thanks Frank, all the RO's and Jacob and Lisa for making me feel welcome on your outstanding facility. The match was alot of fun and the south Texas wind was FKN crazy !! We dont get that 30 MPH stuff here in AZ and it shows by my finish in the match. It was great to meet all the shooters and see friends I've shot with at other matches. ohhh yeah... thanks Captain Kick Ass (CKA) for NOT punching me in the nuts like my brother requested you to do !!
Thanks to all the sponsors for the goodies they donated. (your letters are coming when I finish this). Tim Team POF-USA (Scott's brother)

Re: **Official 2010 Sniper's Hide Cup Thank You***

Thank you for coming Scott's brother LOL

And yes a huge thanks to Frank at POF. Frank supports so many of the sniper shooting events not to mention making some kick ass rifles. He really deserves our support and thanks.

Re: **Official 2010 Sniper's Hide Cup Thank You***

What else can be said besides THANK YOU!! As always the SH/RO crew takes the sport to another level once again.

Just when you think you have seen it all they come up with even more ways to give the shooters as much bang for their buck.

Frank, Jacob, Lindy, Lisa, Lisa, and all the support crew thank you for all the hard work and allowing us to come sling lead and improve our shooting and compete.

To all the sponsors out there!! WOW can we as shooters ever thank you enough for all the goodies on the prize table.

It was great to see everyone again out at the match and I am happy to meet many new shooters.

It is never a dull moment and its like a family reunion twice a year that I look forward to every year.

I cant wait for the Bash.

Yell if you guys need anything and be safe.

Re: **Official 2010 Sniper's Hide Cup Thank You***

Holy cow, I am still exhausted...lol! Ok, here is my thanks and I'll try to make it short.
First, SPONSORS...wow! Thank you for supporting these events. I am always amazed out how many great companies there are out there that are willing to give back! It does not go unnoticed. I tried to email my thanks as the prizes were coming in but the week of the competition things got a little crazy. So, incase you did not receive an email from me please accept my apology. Thank you for all that you do!

Second, to all the competitors, Thank you too! All the work that goes into these seems so minor when everyone starts to show up. Like Nomad said "it is like a family reunion twice a year". There are so many of you that just make me smile! I have to say even though I feel like I've been beat with a bat after these are over I hate to see everyone go!

Lindy and Lisa: these comps would not be the same without you! You both are a "rock" when it comes to Rifles Only and I hate that you 2 are not around more often. I love you guys and thanks for all that you do to help.

My brother James, thanks for taking the time away from your family and work to come down and cook for us. Your cooking is always top notch. Sorry the weather was not the best :-(!

John Lemm, what can I say! You rock! Thanks for driving all the way here to help. You are family and these comps would not be the same without you as well.

Winn & Miles: You guy are like my M3 engine! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Tony Burkes: Thanks for getting the trophies together for me! I started to panic a little when English said that he would not be here. The trophies were just, well, WOW!! You are truly a great man and you too are family!

Frankie, my soulmate...lol! You have brought so much to Rifles Only! The relationship that has been built from day one has exceeded my expectations. Being able to have a business relationship as well as being "family" can often be a disaster waiting to happen. However, with you it has never been a question. You and Jacob will never divorce even though you 2 sound like a old married couple at times. There isn't a thing in the world that we wouldn't do for you professionally and personally. I love you dearly!

Jacob....do I really need to say anything on a public forum? Thanks for putting up with my constant...."we need to do this and that". All of this has been an adventure and I have loved every minute.

    Thank you everyone!!!!!

Re: **Official 2010 Sniper's Hide Cup Thank You***

Thanks for having me down again at RO. My life would be a little better if I could see everyone more than twice a year but I probably wouldn't get any work done.

The prize table at this match has really set the bar and was something to behold.

Big thanks to POF, Barrett, Nathan, GAP, Nighthawk, and Desert Tactical for putting up some great events and prizes.

Nice shooting to Wade. I wasn't in your group but it must have been like watching a training video. Great group shot by Rob...people were asking me who was shooter 26...I asked why...they said he just shot the center out...I said that was probably Rob...and it was...lol. Big high five to Graham who drove from Canada...or close enough...and spanked a bunch of us with a .308win and showed us all how to shoot out of a helo to win the event. Great shooting gentlemen.

My mantra that I say to myself before each stage of fire is..."get at least half the points"...well I did that but it wasn't enough...the caliber of shooters showing up now are insane and to finish in the top 10 at the Cup is really saying something. The only thing better than the skill of all the shooters there is their character. Some of them actually seem like characters...lol...but I wouldn't want to shoot with anyone else. I can get squaded next to any of the 60+ shooters and have a great time and learn something as well.

I hope everyone made it home safely. With any luck I will see you all at the Bash.

    Be safe, shoot well.

    Respectfully,

    --KJ

Re: **Official 2010 Sniper's Hide Cup Thank You***

Great match! Plenty of challenging stages, yet nothing that "couldn't" be done if you had your stuff together. My hat is off to Frank and the RO crew, you guys ROCK!

Seems like I go from one "problem" to another - last year it was keep my head down, this year it's my trigger "control".... I will be working on these issues and truly appreciate the advise and critiques received.

Prize table - WOW! You sponsors really went all out and it is appreciated. I'm having trouble sleeping the last couple nights, trying to figure out how to use that Barrett certificate....

You guys are the best - a big THANK YOU!

Hope to see you at the Bash (with a detachable box mag this time!).

    Cheers,

    Bill

Re: **Official 2010 Sniper's Hide Cup Thank You***

Thank you so much to Frank, Jacob, Lisa, Lindy, and Lisa, and the rest of the staff for all of their hard work preparing for and running the match. I am amazed at what what such a determined, hard working, professional team can do. This match was amazing.

Thanks to all of the sponsors that put together a prize table that exceeded anything we could have imagined. We will remember you for supporting the match and often laying in the mud beside us too.

I would like to especially thank Nick Young of Desert Tactical for the 338 lapua rifle. I was lucky enough to be in his squad and after a weekend of talking to him and seeing how well this platform was designed, excecuted and how ell he drove it I knew that I had to have one. He is, after all, SR90, the man that inspired me years ago with his ELR field reports to build my first 338 lapua. That was back before Desert Tactical when he was running a timberwolf.

It was great to see and talk to some old freinds again and to meet a few new ones too.

Hope to see you all at the Bash.

    Respectfully,

    Wade

Re: **Official 2010 Sniper's Hide Cup Thank You***

Frank, Jacob, Lisa, Lisa, Lindy and all the other people that contributed BIG THANKS! Many thanks to the sponsors as well, and I will be sending a Thank you to each and every one seperately.
The Cup was a great experience. It was good to meet all the people i didnt know and see the ones i did. Next year i will try a little harder to shoot the targets instead of just shoot at them.
Here is a pic of TEAM CAPTAIN MORGAN. The guy on the right is Brian Leatherwood, he won the GAP rifle. (He's not a member of team captain morgan.......He's our designated driver!)

Re: **Official 2010 Sniper's Hide Cup Thank You***

There is no better place to shoot than at Rifles Only. Jacob, Lisa, Lindy, Lisa, John, Winn, Miles, James....oh and Frank, thank you. Seriously, I mean it!! I shot 127 rounds, at 30 minutes of preptime per shot, thats 3810 minutes.......63 hours spent in prep time just for me (Now I really feel like shit for missing so many targets). It's going to take alot of adjustments to work that off!!

Barrett, POF, Desart Tactical, Knight Hawk, GAP, HuDisCo, Nightforce, TAB, Surgeon,............AND THE ENTIRE LIST ABOVE

Thank You for all your donations and support of our passion.

Just got off the phone with all the vendor's who's prizes I recieved, emails are good but let me tell you, they sure like the phone call.....

Just a quick thank you. Lisa, Jacob, Frank, Lindy, and everyone involved with the match. A big thanks to all the sponsors who stepped up and donated to the incredible prize table. It was a great time and challenging match. I never now what to expect and this match kept right along with that. Thank you again to everyone.

Re: **Official 2010 Sniper's Hide Cup Thank You***

That was such a fantastic match I feel like I was very fortunate to be a part of it. I can't say or add anything that hasn't already been said. Huge thanks to the sponsors for being so incredibly generous for us. Not just the big names but more small shops than I can count donated from their bottom line to provide us with free gear. I will support them whenever possible and spread the word of their products to friends and new shooters every chance I get.

The level of skill there was really impressive. I felt like I shot well enough to make top 3 most matches I've entered and I didn't even place top ten there. Congrats to the top shooters they really put up an awesome performance to get those kinds of scores.

I'm already trying to figure out a way to make the 'Bash this year.

    Wade,
You are very welcome, you earned it! Didn't know if many guys remembered my old 338LM posts with my Timberwolf, still have the Twolf but unfortunately it has been collecting dust since we built the SRS platform.

Re: **Official 2010 Sniper's Hide Cup Thank You***

I've now had a few days to think about it:

When compared to ANY other match the prize table was HEAVY. Every participant got something of value, not just trinkets. That speaks volumes about the sponsors, who went beyond whatever obligation they think they had to provide something, and instead of sending whatever they had lying around chose to provide quality gear.

    For example:

Nick (Hasgun here on the Hide), from Grand River Tactical, stayed up all night the day before I left for the match to personally make a box full of data book covers and other stuff for the prize table. He then drove to my house the next day to give it to me to take to the match. He wanted the stuff there, in quantity, and in time. When it came my time to pick from the table I added one of his data book covers for myself because he didn't have time to make one for me.

Mile High Shooting Accessories provided not just an AICS chassis for the prize table, but a folder. They didn't have to send the more expensive model. But they did.

Trijicon provided not just a certificate, but an optical gunsight - and in time for everyone to use during the match. That way every shooter who participated (and even some who didn't) got to road-test a Trijicon under field conditions. And it worked. Not just on a static range but under real-life conditions: I was shooter number 65, one of the last people to run the helicopter stage shooting the buckets on the move. In the helicopter I was handed a rifle/scope that I had never seen before. I didn't know whether the gunsight would be 'on' and keep its zero after being abused all day by sixty four different amped-up competitors. When I heard Jacob's words over the coms, "Three up; three down", I knew the Trijicon was a quality piece of gear. Sure I had heard good things about it, but in the distant past I had been issued an Elcan. Now I KNEW about the Trijicon. And so did everyone else who used it.

And POF, well, what can I say??!! That rifle rocks: Not just any AR, but a piston driven gun that showed its utility by running without a hitch, without lube, and without a break, while 65 shooters abused it. After the match, when I got a closer look at it, it still appeared as new. That NP3 will take a beating and not show its age. The rifle wasn't just a collection of parts, but a well thought-out system. And it shoots like crazy! That's a Mike Rock barrel for ya'. Maybe more importantly the POF guys were there for the entire match. Not selling stuff, but helping out. And not just helping out selected people but helping all of us - from the big names to the least-known guy there. You can't teach that kind of discipline, dedication, and character. Thanks, Frank D. Both you guys didn't have to do a quarter of what you did for us that weekend. But I'm glad you did.
