We recently found bugs in firmware 1.17 and 1.18 that affect the range card and MV temp table that were not discovered in testing prior to launch. We apologize for this issue and pulled down the 1.18 firmware update from our server to do a thorough review. We wanted to keep everyone up-to-date and will make 1.15 firmware available through these links. We are working very hard to fix these issues and will have a new firmware version out and available as soon as possible. Barring additional issues we expect to have it released by 1 March. Please contact the Kestrel tech support team with any further questions.
Thanks for your patience while we fix this problem,

The Kestrel Team

If you want to downgrade your Kestrel 5700 Elite back to 1.15, please follow the steps below

Note 1: You will need to be able to connect to Windows or MAC computer via the Bluetooth dongle or USB cable.
Note 2: This process will erase the gun profiles on your Kestrel so please back them up first.

1) Download the attached files to your computer to a known location (Like the Desktop). You will need to Unzip the files to use them.
2) Please note, 1 file is for LiNK models and 1 file is for non-LiNK models so choose the file that matches your model.
3) Open up the Kestrel LiNK for Windows or MAC program and connect your Kestrel. https://kestrelinstruments.com/link-connectivity
4) On the Kestrel LiNK program, go to Manage->Model Upgrade.
5) A navigation window will pop up, navigate to the file saved in Step 1. Select the correct file version and then press Open.
6) You will be prompted that a new firmware update is available. Wait for the Kestrel to reboot and your unit should have fw 1.15 on it now.

Please contact [email protected] if you have any questions.

Really enjoying the new 'multi target' screen ... is it OK to leave FW1.18 on there with these MV Temp issues (I can temporarily fudge them to make them work) ???

Thanks for the great support. Would rather get updates with a few small errors than no updates.

Yes you can leave 1.18 on there. The DA will still adjust based on temperature but will not use the table currently.

Can anyone please explain what the issue is with the MV/Temps? If I do not have any values in my tables am I good to go?

The MV Temp table is just not being accessed. So whether you have values in the table or not or whether it is turned on or not, the Kestrel just ignores it at the moment. It will adjust DA based on the ambient temperature though if environment is turned on. This will be fixed with the next firmware update.

What's the status of 1.18? Is there a 1.19? Are we still waiting to upgrade?

Currently 1.15 is the latest firmware out there. 1.17 and 1.18 were both pulled back due to issues. 1.19 will be the next release and we hope to have that available by 3/1/18. We are still currently going through and thoroughly testing the code to flush out any other issues.

Just a quick report from the field on the new AB Kestrel version-
I had the new 'Multi-Target' screen going yesterday. Its very nice to have the come-ups on a 5 targets in one spot; very quick to go one to the next. Maybe this isn't valuable to some folks with arm boards or smart phones, but for me, I really like it.
Also, I like the increased number of targets that it can run. This is a valuable improvement as well.
So thanks very much for the new version. I'm looking forward to the version with the MV temp corrected. Please keep up the great improvements!
