I have a varmit ar with an 8-32 nightforce that is zeroed at 200 yards would like to add some type of rmr/ optic/laser. I have seen some 45 degree mounts with rmrs on them. Not sure what’s the best options.

the goal is to have something for quick shot out to 50 yards

I like scope mounts that integrate red dot into them and don't care much for independent rmr system. A couple of really good ones available: Spuhr with 45 rmr plate; Geissele with Reptilia 45 or 90 rmr plate, Nightforce extreme with NF multi top

My experience is a 45 deg offset (AR-15 rail mounted) or a top of the scope mounted (ala Reptilia ROF90) is easier to use than an angled off the scope mount. The rail mounted RMR is easy to find just keeping cheek weld and rolling the rifle. The top of the scope is also quite easy, just going straight up from the optic. I always hunted for the dot on an offset scope mounted RMR.

I quite like the Arisaka Defense offset red dot mount; it has a reversible stem that you can adjust between 35 and 45 angle, and they also have a 1.93 height option as well. Plates for nearly every RDS out there, too.
