But based on the last few movies, it probably won't be. I enjoyed Solo for what it was, but it wasn't 'a good movie.' I enjoyed Rogue One for what it was but was only marginally better than the last trilogy. The last trilogy? Umm yeah. Let's toss out the formula that worked and substitute woke ideology instead. Pass unless there's nothing else on and it's free. Even then I'm likely to surf the web while 'watching' one of that trilogy

I hate to break it to you, but film critics who are also fans of the franchise will tell you that the slide into the abyss started with… Wait for it… Are you ready?… Return of the Jedi. Stilted dialog. Formulaic plot. Built in merchandising. And, Ewoks were Jar Jar Binks long before Naboo was a planet- in Earth time.

But, there are enough casual “fans” that anything with Star Wars on it will do well enough. They won’t be the fans that see the movie multiple times in the theater, but that level of devotion is no longer necessary for success.

Growing up in the rural south I remember that as well. It ranged from unintentional (just accepting old stereotypes) to overt, meaning the Klan burning crosses in black peoples yard.

I think for most the original intent of whats happening now was tolerance towards others who are different. Thats a good thing. Unfortunately, the evil has latched onto the good and turned it to hate against those who tried to accept that which is different. Its a very fine line.

Be clear, though on the surface it may appear to be emotional illness, behind it is pure evil that wants to enslave the free spirit.

Acting was different then. And, it could be argued that Tamil was the most seasoned among the "main characters," other than Guiness of course. Fisher was 19, and had been in a total of 2 other TV/Film roles. Hamil and Ford had both had a fist full of TV roles each, but none were household names. Now, you can't make a movie unless you have 3 "stars" headlining and a couple more showing up as cameos.

Only the first couple of movies were decent. Everything after the first 3 were complete shit. The worst part about it is the stupid adults that have blind love for the whole shit franchise. They buy everything Star Wars. I don't get it. If it wasn't Star Wars everyone would hate those movies. Actually most people do. The stories are way too long and so many characters in the movie that has no business being in the movie. WTF does Flynn and the asian chick bring that is critical to that last 3? Nothing.

I was just going to post how the first one was a tribute to early sci-fi in that it was essentially a formulaic space western. Anyone who ever read early sci-fi saw it for that and enjoyed it simply for that.

I was 13 in 1977 standing in a line around the theater at the Northpark Cinema at Northpark Mall in Dallas, Texas. And I agree, I could follow it to Return of the Jedi but I have not watched any of the later ones. Sad, because Liam Neeson and Ewan MacGregor are some of my favorite actors.
