Ahh, the age old " What finish do I use ? " I want the patina, warm, soft glow of a finish,
with of course, the lazy man work style. Suggestions, Y'all ?

I am a fan a linspeed oil That is probably spelled wrong
Linseed oil.

But I like your spelling better.

In Foghorn Leghorn voice:
“Johnny, son I’m adding some special linspeed oil to this here rifle. Keep your eyes on me son! Adds 50fps and it says so on the can!”

it was called linspeed basically linseed with some turpentine like stuff added to it so it had more a hard finish. I don't know if it is made any longer, but Truoil is a similar product.

This makes a phenomenal finish that is very tough. It's somewhat labor intensive, but worth it.

After I had depleted my meager supply on the Tru Oil real oil finish…..not the original tru oil…….i ordered a pint of the Minwax Antigue Oil Finish. The oil finish by tru oil….not the Tru Oil shiny stuff, but the Tru Oil oil finish….i did 4 hand rubbed coats. Low buildup formula, It soaked up into the wood, and gave that walnut just a hint of Winchester red. I steel wooled the whole stock, removing almost all of the surface finish, and put the first coat of Minwax Antique Oil finish on. After it set for about five minutes, I buffed it all off. That first coat has the soft glow you get from real oil hand rubbed finish. I’m going to wait a couple of days, and put on the second coat. I think three coats in all, after using the other oil finish, and my CZ Classic 452 will be ready to reassemble. I have a machined bottom metal I purchased when they were available, that will be the crowning touch. The barrel was reblued by a girl, working at Triple River Gunsmithing in Missouri. Excellent work. I have some more rifles to get reblued, but, unfortunately, the guy that owned the shop has passed away…..and the shop has closed. Now, to find a place that does bluing I can afford………..my number one BRNO, my number 4 BRNO, etc…….I like the old rifle formula…..real wood, and real blued steel.
