Suppressors Omega vs ultra

So I am thinking of ordering another can and would like to hear from people who have both. I already own a varminter 4.0 that I really like and can go to 30 cal. I mainly shoot my 6 and 6.5 so thinking of getting one dedicated to those. What are the pros and cons of the two and is one more precise than the other? A lot of love for tbac it seems, just would like to know more about both.

I have both. The omega is a nice can, no gripes about it. Have a couple of different end caps for it and a Ti 419 adapter. I found the 6.5 end cap made the tone worse for me(6.5 creedmoor, 24” barrel), so I keep the 30 cal end cap on it now. Day in day out I grab the ultra though. I use it on a 20 cal varmint rifle up to a 25 PRC, and a few cartridges in between.

OP most here will tell you Ultra. I own 3 Ultras and 2 Omegas. IMO their the 2 best cans on the market for weight, size and sound reduction.

All mine are DT. Was in a match last weekend. I was running my Omega (with ti 6.5mm end cap (no brake)) and a guy in my squad was running a Ultra 7 in 264 with his 6mm CM and I was running 6.5CM. Everyone agreed that they could audibly tell my can was quieter.

I was listening to him shoot and I thought his can was quieter than mine. He thought my can was quieter than his. Everyone else thought mine was quieter. That's what you get when you have the 2 best next to each other. Really hard to tell basically.

Kinda playing around with testing other stuff like pressure and recoil but I feel like my Omega has less recoil but more chamber pressure. I can show you facts with pics if you want me to dig deeper.

All that said I am very happy with both. I'm in the camp of liking the ultra better simply because they come in .264 where the Omega doesn't. I also like the fact that the Ultra comes in over 1/2 OZ lighter than Omega with Omega having all the ti stuff on it.

In the end I kinda think the Omega is outperforming my Ultras and am having a hard time accepting that hahah.

My ultra 5 and 7 are 6.5. Had a ultra 9 30 cal. I have a 338 ultra also. Your choice on the bore. You have a 30 already. 90% of my shooting is 6 and 6.5mm.

I also have both and they are both nice cans. I really just prefer the 6.5 Ultra 9. I always tend to grab that one. To me the 6.5 Ultra 9 is quieter the Omega which does have a slightly different tone. Accuracy on both is great.

I run an ultra 9 and my brother in law runs an omega. Both are awesome cans. Maybe a sound meter would help but the Ultra seems a bit quieter. Also I believe 2” longer.

I will add he decided to go from direct thread to QD and having the adapter and brake included makes the omega a real awesome setup. Took 2 wrenches and about 5 minutes to convert to the QD. So that’s a big plus for the omega

How is your 338 ultra compare to your Omega with 6.5 cm? I know apples to oranges but curious

The 338 is quieter than everything. I can’t hear the difference between the omega and the 7 either most days. It’s always interesting though to see how the sounds vary from day to day, host to host, ear to ear etc. The omega is always right up there or at the top when compared to its direct competition on same/same hosts.

I played around with the new dead air nomad L or nomax whatever they ended up calling in when it was in r and d and it was pretty damn quiet on everything I ran it on up to 300 Norma

Those TBAC vids that Ray does seem pretty accurate on it’s relative quietness compared to the rest of their lineup with standard cartridges. I haven’t been out shooting much in the last few months, but when I do it’s been with a 6 creed and the 338 ultra. That gun is a boat anchor all by itself, so I don’t care about the suppressor size. I bought it for magnums but I don’t end up using for them much.

I have a nomad 30 as well. Demo’d it to a number of people and they tend to gloss right over it. They don’t like the diameter and don’t think it’s a standout in performance. Omega is as quiet, and a little lighter. Not the L of course. I think the Ti Nomad that just got released is a step in the right direction. I haven’t looked at it’s specs yet though.

Yeah pretty sure the Ultra 9 is quieter than the Omega. The Ultra 7 is more apples to apples.

And yes I get ridiculous accuracy on both too. Things are wrong if I shoot .5moa or bigger for either.

With my Ultra 9 I’ve seen no shift to 1” shift suppressed vs Unsuppressed on heavy barrel guns. The lighter barrels tend to shift more. I’ve seen up to 6” shift at 100 yds on rifles. My ultra 9 30 cal on my 260 Rem is 1” high at 100 yards Unsuppressed vs suppressed

Correct. Both my Ultra 7’s and very similar to the omega for sound.

I don't think the 338 Ultra vs any 30cal can is really a fair comparison. The 338 has a massive volume advantage which helps make it way quieter. I use both the 338 Ultra and Omega on most of my rifles, and the 338 is hands down quieter. Not saying the Omega isn't awesome, but the 338 is dang near twice the size, so I'd expect it to be way better. I'd recommend the Omega with 30cal end cap or anchor brake for any short action caliber. I use the Omega in matches on my 25 creedmoor, and have used it on my 243 and 260 with very good results both direct thread and ASR QD.
