OMR prefit barrels

Has anyone used Oregon Mountain rifles prefit barrels or had them build a rifle before?
I am looking at getting one for my Howa and there price seems decent for a carbon prefit.

Great price. I’d want to hear some first hand experiences before choosing them over PR. But the more folks that get in the carbon fiber game, the better it’ll be for the consumer!

Same thing I thought. Price is great but was hoping some guys on here would have some knowledge on there barrels. They are only 2.5 hours from me so I wouldn’t have to ship the rifle. Not that shipping a rifle is a big deal.
might have to take a day trip down there one day and talk with them.

Their savage prefit barrels are large shank. I think that’s a big mistake as most Savages and custom actions with savage threads are cut for small shank.

Only a very limited number of actions will use large shank.

I did notice that. Not really understanding there thinking behind that.

Read their technical page, it doesn't sound right after barrel break in they want you to clean your barrel every 20 to 40 rounds for optimum accuracy. I wouldn't trust these guys

I have used them on a few rifles (all 300WM). These were not pre-fit, but rather carbon blanks that I installed. They shoot very well with factory ammo (1/2 moa and better). As with most applications, some are picky with ammo. But if you have a quality ammo, these barrels hammer.

the more you clean the more likely to fuck up your barrel and need a new one sooner
