Anyone shooting one of the Remington 9.25 twist rifles in 7 08 ?
I am curious if the 162 Amax will, definitely, fly and if not, what are you having success with? Targets / lr.
I see some post what should work. They 'say' 9.25 is not quite fast enough.

Re: On The 7-08

I know a rifle currently running that twist that I compete against. Shoots great and he has no stability problems. Just make sure your pushing them 2600+ and your set. I run an 8 twist on mine but don't be afraid with the 9.5.

Good luck,
Merritt

Re: On The 7-08

I put about 150 rounds through my buddys new 708 this weekend. Its a Savage 10FCP McMillan, with a CBI 7-08 prefit barrel, 26" long with 1-9 twist. It's shooting .566 (to be exact) 10 shot groups on average at 200 yards. 46.5gr H4350, 162amax, 2776fps (oehler 35). This was with neckturned FC 308 brass necked down. I reloaded the same batch of 15 cases 10 times - primers still tight.

One word: Awesome

Re: On The 7-08

Of course the 9 1/4 twist will stabilize the 162AMAX, Im sure it would also do the 180VLD, why wouldnt it? This is what the 162AMAX does in my 700 708 S/S. 41grs 2000MR, this was shot at 300yds.

Re: On The 7-08

I have learned to ask. Look at the great replies here.
I already have several 223's including one that will not shoot a specific range of bullets I bought the rifle to shoot. Thankfully it will shoot 69 Sierras well.
'They', some of them, have reported the 9.25 too slow. Miss information net. You may have read some of those posts yourself Mr. Gorsky.
I want a 7 08 and would be quite happy if I could begin with one right out of the box. This is why I ask about the 9.25 and a long range bullet.
Thanks for these replies.
