bought a bushmaster orc m4 no iron sights. I would like to get some kind of cantilever one piece mount on it. I dont want something that will break the bank. will try to stay $60 or under. dont really know which ones are at the optimal height. also would like it to be a 30 mm but come with 1" inserts. thx

The Burris PEPR will do you pretty well. If you step up from that, American Defense makes excellent mounts.
SWFA makes a one piece AR mount in that price range (or sell one with their branding). I have one, seems decent enough. Haven't had it long or shot much with it though
+1 on the P.E.P.R. Burris. Really sold mount, if you have the money go for Larue but the Burris is the best value. I have a one piece Leupold that was way more expensive and the Burris is easily the better mount.
The Burris PEPR works well.
If you want something a few ounces lighter, but just as sturdy, check out the DNZ Freedom Reaper mount. It's a little less expensive than the Burris if you're going with a 1" tube. If you go 30mm, the price jumps up quite a bit.

As stated earlier, you get what you pay for. If I were you I'd save up for a Larue. Just my opinion though.
The SWFA SSALT mount is the same as the Burris PEPR (SSALT, PEPR 
), but doesn't come with the picatinny ring caps that you'll never use and is a couple bucks cheaper. It also comes with inserts so you can run either a 30mm or 1" scope.

The Burris mount has worked well for me. It is quite the little piece for how little it costs, just have to have a wrench with you if you are taking it on/off.
After your scope doesn't hold zero and you have to sight it in every other week, the money you spent on ammo will have nearly paid for a 2-3 hundred dollar mount not even to mention the aggravation. I heard Burris scope mounts were made from aborted baby fetus and Obama campaign pins... just a rumor I heard though

My only complaint was the cap screws went in retardedly tight like they didn't take into account the thicknes the anodizing adds. It's not a LaRue or ADM, but you can't beat it for the price. I just couldn't bring myself to buying a REPR due to the goofy rails on the caps and the Nikon looked poorly machined to me.

This right here. Don't settle for cheap. Pick up an ADM, GDI, or good set of rings.
I have been using a RAMP mount by Warne for the past year. It is a ways above your price point that you want to spend. But You get what you pay for. I have this system on my rifle I use for coyote tournaments and it has taken a beating. Never once have I had a issues with it.
Have used many PEPR's and they are good mounts although a bit heavy. I have now gone to the American Defense mounts which are just amazing but quite a bit more $. I still would not hesitate to us a PEPR though as they have always returned to zero when dismounted. Another good one on a budget is Midway's AR Stoner mount. It's about $50 and very solid. I liked the one I had.
I have the Burris 30mm mount on 6 of my AR's and the non QD ones are solid mounts. Bought the first one after buying a Larue 104. I like the non QD PEPR. The one QD PEPR one I have not so much.
I run a SWFA SSALT non-QD on one of my rifles with absolutely zero issues. Another rifle that I use without optic from time to time wears a Larue just because of the repeatability of the QD system.

The PEPR comes with two sets of caps- one with rails, and one without. Sorry for the bad pic.
Weapon system is only as strong as weakest link. Have seen 3000 dollar scopes fall off due to cheap rings
+1 on saving your $$ and get the LaRue. As others have said you will save $$ in the long run because of the ammo you will save in sighting in your optic every time out. I have watched many guys, even a very good friend of mine at the range with a $4000 gun and a $3000 optic and a $100 mount. They are dumbfounded when they can not get the optic to hold zero, or even get it to zero. Get the LaRue or Badger then be done. You wont have a worry about your mount ever.

Now, what I really want you to tell me is what you do differently in the @ 1.5mS of the firing pin hitting the primer and the bullet leaving the bore with a gasser compared to a bolt.
I'm mostly captivated by those with credentials and pedigrees that expound on the subject of the differences between driving gassers and bolts... especially in the "1.5mS zone".

Precisely my point. His rifles are great shooters but the mount leaves something to be desired.
I'm not a fanboy at all (I actually think his rails are a retarded design and his rifle are overpriced), but I have found his mounts to be of good quality. What are the common issues with them besides the cams scratch the rail where they mount?
After handling a PERP I did not like it. It felt cheap to me. Just my opinion, dont roast me. I initially went with a RRA one piece cantaliever because I was in the price issue as well, and it felt more solid. However, since then I quickly upgraded to an ADM QD and will never look back. You may find something that will work for now but I would focus on upgrading ASAP. Once you've done so you'll see why everyone is telling you that. Many of us have been down this same road and just want to save others from our own regrets. Good luck.
The Larue mount doesn't have as much bearing surface as the GDI or others. To quote Lowlight, the Larue mounts "knife edge" the rail and that's not what you want for a repeatable, precision/marksman grade mount.
The more bearing surface a mount has, the better it will retain/sustain your zero.
I have a PEPR and am trying to replace it because it's made in China. I DO NOT want Chinese parts on my American firearm. And yes, I did have a problem with the mount (out of the package) and had to get with Burris to get replacement parts; in all fairness the mount works fine now.
I just bought a used, like new, Armalite mount for $60 shipped. I have another one of these already and like it. You can find them used cheap. That's the route I would go on your budget. Or save up for a LaRue (you won't regret it).

What are you doing with the rifle? shooting at dirt/plinking, or trying to do some precision work. I will assume the former considering the ORC isint exactly a tight shooting gun.

I would say you are fine with a PEPR or other ell cheapo mount. If you are serious about trying to outshoot the gun/ammo/person behind the weapon, then get a good quality, NON-QD mount.
Quality parts cost money, but you will know almost with a certainty, that they are not the limiting factor in your development. Being able to eliminate as many variables and variences as possible will make you a much better shooter.
For the price of Larue, you can get a bobro, which is superior in everyway. ADM is cheaper and inferior to both ,but you get what you pay for, usually.

American defense manufacturing. Made in U.S.A. reasonably priced. QD throw levers. available 30mm or 1" 34mm ect... The rings can be bought separately and swapped out.
The GDI is a precision mount and retains zero as long as the user knows what they're doing. I've used the American Defense mounts with good results as well.
LaRue or any quick change mount is good if you plan on swapping the scope from weapon to weapon. If not any mount that clamps solid, does not move and preferably with a pin or key works the same. I have LaRue mounts and a one piece OLD B-Square mount and they work the same. The B-Square clamps firm enough to tow a car.

Not a LaRue fanboy and not really fond of any quick release mount for a precision scoped rifle (Eotech & NV the exception) so I am missing your animosity towards LaRue.
It matters little what any mount costs, it either works or it does not.
I have also owned the Burris PEPR mount and I thought it was fine, never had a problem with it....but its definitely not super gucci. Another option is a one piece mount by Bobro (sp?) I subscribe to LoneWolfUSMC's youtube channel...8541 Tactical; and John had a very favorable review of it. Not sure who sells them but finding that episode should be pretty easy.

For a run & gun scenario, the Larue mount will do just fine but for precision work...take your chances.
