Opinins on Ruger M77 VLE

I bought a Ruger M77 VLE several years before I knew anything about precision rifles. Recently I shot it in a practice session for a Long Range Tactical match. I made hits out to 1,000 yards, when a certain fraction of the class dropped out at and beyong the 800 yard mark. I am ambivalent about this rifle; I'm not sure if the results I got were because of me, it, or the scope (a Shepherd). Still, I got to 1000 on my first try. Any opinions on this rifle anyone would care to give?

Re: Opinins on Ruger M77 VLE

From what I've read on them, and I have done research on them when I was looking for a hunting stick, is that they are one of the go to hunting rifles for guys like me who can't afford 5K rifles every other month, but as far as a "tactical" or "sniper" rifle is concerned there are a lot of better options out there. A lot of the hunters on the Alaska Outdoors Forum swear by them because of the CRF, stout action, and caliber choices. They favor the Winnie CRF, CZ550, and The Ruger.
