Both tested at 490 yards in around 10-20 knots of varying wind swirling in a gully
338 LM... -- DTA SRS A1
My first Ladder test narrowed my range down to 91.1 to 91.9 gr of N570. The pic attached of the 8 shot group (91.5 went astray, like waaay away, dont know what happened there) has all shots in 2.0 inches of vertical movement at 490 yards. Speeds below show next to no variation in speed, so i suppose if the speed is all about the same, and 0.4 MOA, it would certainly suggest i've found the barrel at the top or bottom of the cycle yes ??! my choice for the 338 is 91.7 gr.
91.1 2725
91.2 2691
91.3 2735
91.4 2740
91.5 2746
91.6 2744
91.7 2741
91.8 2744
91.9 2742
260 Rem... -- DTA SRS A1
Again, my first ladder narrowed me down to 40.1 to 40.9 gr of AR2213SC. if i take the 5 shot group from 40.3 to 40.7 i get 0.73 MOA. If i take the 3 shot group of 40.5 to 40.7 i get 0.24 MOA. I'm not surprised by the worse results in the 5 shot group of the 260 compared with the 338 Lap, because my reloading with the 338 lap is intense, with the 260, i do nothing but take a new case and load her up.
40.1 2387
40.2 2371
40.3 2370
40.4 2414
40.5 2396
40.6 2417
40.7 2431
40.8 2468
40.9 2439
I am not going for extreme accuracy with the 260, so my choice is 40.6 gr being the middle of the most accurate 3 shot group.
