Can you guys recommend something in the $500 range, that I can dial for a .22lr trainer? Prefer power range to be 4-16, 3-15, 3-18. No SWFA had one, hated the mil-quad reticle. Thanks.

Might want to check out the new primary arms 3-18 with their Athena or whatever their reticles are called. They have a mil or MOA version. It’s a FFP scope.
Vortex has a strike eagle in the 3-18
Athlon has 4.5-27 (I have one and it’s good except eyebox is tight at 27)

I have looked at some of the Athlons, but they so many models I get information overload, guess I should call the guys at cameralandny.

Athlon Argos BTR 6-24×50 mil is what I run on my NRL22 rifle and is quite well suited to that use. They can be found for under $300.
Is the tracking decent on the Diamondback? Only Vortex scopes that I have are a Gen 1 Razor, and a Gen 2 Razor.
If you doubt the Argos BTR's track, let me tell you otherwise.

On centerfires I've made cold bore shots on steel out to 981Y, a friend does with his as well.
The Midas TAC is a great scope, I have the 4-16 on my AR. For a basic scope and standard reticle it's the best on the market for the money period.
Though my favorite sub $1000 scope is the Ares BTR 4.5-27, mostly because of that awesome .2 mil reticle, but the scope plain works well.

Steve thanks, is the only difference between the Argos, and the Helos the location of the illumination switch? Both have the APMR reticle.
The Helos has locking turrets.
Too be honest we had a Helos go down at that same state match, and I know his friend had one go down earlier this year, so I'm not recommending them presently.

I have several Athlons and they are great scopes but since you own a Razor the new Diamondback Tactical May be a better option for you since you will have the same reticle. I currently have one of the 4-16’s on the way for my 22 trainer. I haven’t had a chance to use one in the field yet but based on just looking at and handeling the scope in a store it seems really nice. Plus with the way Vortex takes care of LE and military they end up being a little less money than the Athlon.
A group of friends just ordered 4 of these. Two of them won't adjust at all and are getting sent back...straight out of the box. I know it's a small sampling, but the 2 guys who's scopes are working are debating pulling them because they're concerned with what happened to the other 2.
Well, I had a PST Gen 1 back in the day, and it was an ok optic, but i sold it not too long after getting it & replaced it with a Bushnell ERS. Vortex Razors are fine optics, at least the two I have. I'm just not all that impressed with the lower end stuff. I'll most likely go Athlon, even though I detest "Made in China".
Before you send them back call Vortex and find out the torque for the ring cap screws. Two friends and myself have about five of the Viper 6.5-20s. One stopped dialing correctly so it was sent back. Vortex returned the scope with a caution not to over tighten the cap screws. Torque limit was quite low i.e. 12 or 14 inch pounds. No further problems.
The Midas Tac I have on mine is great for the price. The floating dot reticle is why I chose it over several others. It is viewable at 24x but still small enough not to obscure the small targets I like to use.
I just received my Midas Tac 4-16 from Doug at Cameraland. I got it mounted up and hope to shoot it soon. Impressed with it so far. The 10 yard parallax feature is great for a rimfire.
