Hey all,
I have a Remington 700 .308 varmint that I'm turning into a deer rifle. The rifle also wears a dual-dovetail M40A1 style (not clipslotted) dual dovetail base:
Note that it DOES have a 20moa cant. I figured this would help me get some more elevation should I decide to go groundhog hunting.
I'd like to throw a Nikon Monarch 3-12x42SF on it, but think I may settle for one of the $99 Prostaffs 3-9x40.
Here's the conundrum:
Are either of these scopes going to work well with a 20moa base?
Also, based on the barrel contour and 20moa canted base, which dual dovetail rings would I need that will worth with either a 40mm or 42mm scope with Butler Creek caps while still keeping the scope as low as possible?
I read the sticky post on ring height but this is a bit different with the canted base.
I think I might just get the Prostaff and move that to a .17HMR later when I get the Monarch, however I don't want to change the rings if possible.
