Hey everyone, been absent for a long time and a lot has happened but now I'm back and I need some input.

My wife picked out a Weatherby Vanguard Series II .308 (the one with the Kryptek Highlander camo...she has such good taste!), and I'm investigating the best way to mount a scope (more than likely going to be a Viper PST 4-16 FFP) on it. I'm not too keen on individual rings and I'd like to use a LaRue QD mount but to do so I need a mounting base. Badger Ord was my first thought but they don't have any specific to Weatherby's but I read in another thread that the Remington pattern bases will fit the Vanguards...is this true and if so do I select long or short action? And what tools/screws/etc would I need to affix the base to the receiver?

TIA!

Josh

Talley is the best out for the Howa/weatherby Vangaurds. You can get them on sale on Amazon right now for 50 dollars and they are originally $70. They are FAR BETTER than the EGW bases. I have one on my Howa and love it.

Murphy precision also makes a one piece pic rail.

On a short action Weatherby Vanguard /Howa you can only use 2 Piece Remington 700 bases. if you want a one piece base you have to get the ones specific for a short action Howa or Weatherby Vanguard.

The long action Vanguard/ Howas are the same as a Long action 700 if memory serves me correct.
