texas gulf coast (Pasadena)
Ar platform in 308.
the decisions are the POF 20' or the Armalite ar10t carbine (16") (I believe this is a limited production).
There is a significant price difference.
and of course the DI vrs. piston operation.
Is the POF really worth the extra funds?
I'm not trying to stir the pot, just looking for guidance, and I guess sort of a "what would you do" and reasons why.

As of now I'm leaning to the ar10T carbine.
simply because with the cost difference, I can apply the extra funds for sights AND nice glass.
I highly value those with experience in these areas.
thoughts anyone?
Will I regret my decisions and rational thinking?

Re: options and decisions

When I go out with my son who has a Piston AR and I have a Gas driven AR and I am cleaning mine for an hour and he is done in 5 minutes I am kind of jealous (wouldn't tell him that). If I had the money at the moment I would change to a Piston in a second. I know everyone will have an opinion on this subject but it comes down to money and time.

Re: options and decisions

Time isn't that large of a factor for me. It always boils down to "hindsight". Somehow I always over analyze things trying to rationalize what appears a logical assumption/decision. And according to my wife, I'm usually wrong.
I guess I'm trying to fit everything into one nice box. Accuracy, excellence, investment, and performance. As well as light weight and ruggedness, aka, "Most bang for the buck".
I'll be using it mostly for paper and distant targets. With occasional hunting.
If I go with the POF, The sights will be installed, but the Glass will have to wait.
The ar10T is about $800 less, thus allowing for nicer glass much sooner.

Re: options and decisions

well that is a decision isn't it. Lots of people will say buy the AR10T and save money and use it for ammo. Then there is the Cry Once crowd of buy the most you can and wait for the rest. If it were me and I had the money I would go with a Piston and wait for the Optics. I think piston is where we are going so go with it now and wait for the rest. Plus, the POF or LWRC REPR are nice rifles so you can't go wrong there. IMHO
