After lurking around here for a while now I finally ordered a scope from my Remington 700 VTR .308, from Donnie at Big River Tactical.

Being a newbie to long range I went with the Millet thinking that if I really didn't like long range shooting I wouldn't be sick about the scope setting in the gun vault gathering dust, if I do enjoy it I still have a fairly good piece of equipment that will serve me well until I decide on a high end model.

I felt like a lost dog in a meathouse when it came to mounts. Calling him before I placed the order was worth it, he steered me onto bases and ring based on what I wanted to do. Now I wait for the brown truck to arrive.

Re: Ordered a Millett TRS1

I'll be interested in your opinion of the image quality at 16x and the criticality of your eye position. I've had two of these scopes, BK81008, and both were bad with a milky image and very critical. Other users report no problem. Hope you're in that group.

Re: Ordered a Millett TRS1

I think for the money you have invested in the scope, you will be pleased. I've had several over the last few years. I had 3 or 4 of the older 1/8th MOA models and 2 of the MIL/MIL models and never had a problem out of any of them. I always thought the glass was pretty damn good for a lower priced scope! In fact, I really wish I would have held on to one of the MIL/MIL models as a backup scope!

Re: Ordered a Millett TRS1

I still have the 1/8MOA model, BK81001, on a rifle. The view at 16x is not good but noticeably better than the two mil/mil scopes I had. I was told that they changed the design somewhat when the new model came out. Perhaps my two were defective. My only advice would be to give it a critical evaluation when received and if you're not totally satisfied then send it back. I have recently purchased a Bushnell 3200 5-15x40. It's fine but MOA/mil. I'm now waiting for more reviews of the new PST scopes before proceeding.
