Ordered my first rifle

Fellas,

I ordered my first rifle today. It is a Savage Mark-II BV. I plan on purchasing a SS-10X42 in 2 weeks. I will be taking the NRA First Steps Rifle course at Wicen's range in SE Pennsylvania.

congrats, ive got a mark 2 tr and its a tack driver, mine really lieks standard velocity cci and subsonic cci. youll have fun there a nice rifle

Thanks fellas, I am looking forward to it. Now for ammo, the CMP website has some. 120 days until delivery. Wow.

Constantly (like twice a day) check midway and you'll have to snag ammo the second it comes in. I just scored a brick of RWS subsonic ammo the other day. 3 days later it was here and all for less than any gunshot gouge prices.

My rifle has arrived. My next order of business is a scope. My thoughts are the SS 6x, SS 10x, or the Weaver 3-10x40 from Midway. Any advice on rings and bases would be appreciated. I believe that the Savage Mark II comes with Weaver bases, but I am not not sure. I am new to rifles but I would like to try to mount the scope myself. Is this advisable? Thanks for your help.
