I decided get a new scope for my 6.5 grendel jp-15. I've already decided to go with the Vortex Razor 4.5-27x56 and I'm leaning towards the ebr-7c. Is there any reason I should consider one of the other reticles? I mostly shoot 75-400 yards but in the spring and fall I shoot out to 1100 yards.

if you aren't competing and do a lot of on the fly hold overs and such, i would get either of the older reticles and save some money

venors are blowing them out cheap $1799-1850 for the ebr-2c because everyone is upgrading to the new reticle

or you can pick used ones up here for even cheaper.

granted the erb-7c is only $1999 but...

for what you sound like you are going to be doing. any of them would work just fine

The EBR7C will hold more value if he decides to change the glass out.

Only making the statement because I don't think the market one the 2C has fallen to where it will end up also (think final price will end up in the 1600-1650 for the 2C and the used market will settle for the 7C where the current 2C is selling)
The 2c will be lower than that, I have seen the 7c preorder for 1650. I am on a waiting list for one.

I didn't like the 7B in the AMG - way too busy for my tastes. You can get great deals on the 1C used, and the 2C will get even lower soon. If you're dead set on buying new (not sure why you would be), the 7B is the obvious choice for resale purposes. But if your personal tastes dictate something different, then you should go with that.

They are putting a 7c in the new scopes

Sell price is relative to the price they get from Vortex. I know there are places that have them for less than that.
Yeah I'm sure you can, but they're going for $1650-ish used, so I didn't push it too hard since there is hardly a difference in buying new/used with Vortex. I'm not crazy enough about the 2C to buy it anyway. I want a relatively unobtrusive reticle with a floating dot and .2 mil wind holds - Vortex just doesn't have it.

I honestly look at the skmr3 and the ebr7c and I don't see that much difference. I think when you actually get on glass you won't think it is that busy.

I've spent a decent amount of time with both scopes. Night & day difference to me.

Again - that's why I really prefer the SKMR and mil-C type reticles anyway. I don't need a tree. If I'm aiming at something far enough out to need 2 mils of wind correction, then I'm dialing elevation.

SKMR3 is just short of the borderline on how much busy-ness I can handle, but it's short of it. The EBR-7/7B/7C are past it. Primarily the size and weight of the windage hash marks on the horizontal that feel like they take up way, way too much visual space.
