I live in one of those adjacent counties, very near Portland. For the last several years, I have been disgusted by how blatant lawlessness and the terrorizing Portland citizens and visitors has been condoned, only to inevitably escalate to what we see now...90+ days of absolute mayhem. Frankly, there should be no immunity and should be considered criminal negligence and charges should have been filed long ago for Wheeler, their DA, council...anyone involved in the decisions to stand down and allow it.

I felt confident my town and local LE/government would behave differently if such a thing were to encroach us, so it is very encouraging to see these official statements and that my confidence in my local was not misplaced.

Glad our local Sheriff would not let his office and officers get sucked up in this Oregon political shit show . Pat Garrett comes off pretty level headed and standup guy, and that the reason he been re elected Sheriff here in Washington county a few times now .
.

Oregon must be quite a bit different than Iowa.

Here in Iowa, if the governor wants to restore order rather than asking a county sheriff they can just use the National Guard.

I assume that Oregon has a National Guard . . . . and the governor knows this?

She hates law enforcement and will do anything to make them look bad/wrong/incompetent

"Terri brings a wealth of law enforcement experience to this role and a strong record of leading by example," said Brown. "She brings a focus on inclusivity and is dedicated to listening to community voices—including Oregon's Black, Indigenous, People of Color, and Tribal communities—as we work towards a more fair and just law enforcement system in Oregon."

Our appointed Gov that replaced our corrupt Gov appoints a new puppet?

Hopefully the Portland situation and this will be the end of Kate Brown. The Covid pandemic pretty much caused her recall attempt to fall just short.

Then Wyden, Merkley, and Defazio need to be ousted.

"State police tell KOIN 6 News they’re working with the U.S. Attorney’s Office to review arrests made by troopers assigned to Portland for potential prosecution. The troopers assigned to Portland have been cross-deputized by the U.S. Marshals.

The Multnomah County District Attorney Mike Schmidt previously announced his office would presumptively decline to prosecute certain misdemeanor charges stemming from the protests, a move which resulted in criticism from law enforcement agencies, including state police in mid-August."
