Two weeks ago I bought an Osprey 6-24x50 from a dealer at the Cow Palace in San Francisco for my Savage 93R17 and it does not focus very well. The instructions are not clear. The quality looks good but the focus has me stumped. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. I am returning to shooting after a 30 year absence to raise a family and start my machine shop.

We used to shoot every Saturday morning rain or shine. In 1968 I was in South Korea in 2/23rd Inf, and in Ft Hood Tex where I did some A.M.U. shooting.

I just want to get my skills back up with this 17 HMR then move up to a Remmington 700 .308.

Thanks

Re: OSPREY 6-24X50 DOES NOT FOCUS

Well I don't know much about Osprey. The only place I've seen them are in the sportsmans guide magazines.

As for the focus does the scope have an adjustable objective lens (AO)? Does it have a side focus? Have you set the eye piece?

Pics and more details would help.

Re: OSPREY 6-24X50 DOES NOT FOCUS

Osprey is on par with ATN and countersniper in terms of quality. You can try filing a warranty claim and you will probably get a new scope. But if I were you I'd invest a good optic. There are plenty of good optics out for not much money. Look at Falcon, Wonder Optics, Bushnell elites, Burris, etc.....

Re: OSPREY 6-24X50 DOES NOT FOCUS

I have the same scope and I'm on the 3rd one. Good luck getting a refund.

They will replace it no problem though.

It won't focus inside of 25y on 6 power and inside of about 80y on 24 power. The side focus is mediocre at best.

I'm lucky on my 3rd one that it tracks true, the first one couldn't hold a zero after 3 shots, the second one didn't track true after about 100 rounds.

I'm 500 rounds into this one and still have my fingers crossed. It's being replaced with a NightForce this week.

I'm tempted to put it up on fleabay or sell it to someone on AR15.com but that just feels so dirty...

Re: OSPREY 6-24X50 DOES NOT FOCUS

Had a relative that spent his hard earned money on Leaper's scope once and it would not focus (adjustable objective) at any of the marked distances. After fooling with it for a half hour or so, we finally figured out the AO was one complete revolution off. focused good after that. Maybe...???
