does anybody have any expieience with these knives? I am thinking of getting a small kit that has a saw, a skinner, and knife with gut hook for the hunting season this year. Are these quality knives?

Re: outdoor edge knives?

Have the same kit you are looking at and really like them. Field dressed Elk a couple deer and antelope with no problems. Only issue I ever had was knife was so sharp it cut the leather piece that snaps to hold the knife in when the knife was sliding into place. Not a bad problem to have just needed a new shieth.

Re: outdoor edge knives?

I have the outdoor edge game processor set and it has worked fine for ducks and geese. I haven't had a chance to use it on anything larger, but for the money it's a good basic set of butchering knives. I.e., it works, but don't expect custom knife quality. I was actually pretty impressed with the utility of the knives.

Re: outdoor edge knives?

I have the same kit and for the money , thank that it is a very good deal! No. there not custom knives , but they handle very well and keep an edge. I have used my to dress several deer, hogs, duck, geese, and turkey.

The only suggestion I would have is that they included a better sharpener in the kit, but overall its a great all around package.

Hope this helps-

Re: outdoor edge knives?

ok one more quick question. I looked at theses knives a my local sporting goods store. they have the kodi-pak for $79.99. this comes with a skinner, a caper and a saw. then they have the butcher lite for $49.99. this comes with what the kodi pak has plus a boning knife sharpener and rib spreader. Which is a better kit?
