I scrolled through about 20 of the rifles. Honestly, I think the list is right about where I expected it. There is no specific criteria for a hunting rifle. If they did one on precision tactical rifles, you would see more of the rifles you see here. Not every good rifle is a remington, or a custom action. A vast majority of hunter I know like Mossbergs, Rugers, non-700 Remingtons...ect.
Someone in the beginning of this post expressed distain for the fact that the #1 rifle was a Ruger. To me the only thing that is a negative for Rugers was some bad politics a while back, and from what I know of it (not much), those politics went away when Bill Ruger died. I have yet, to this day, to have a negative experience with a ruger firearm. I owned two semi-auto pistols, a P89 and P90, both dead nuts accurate and flawlessly reliable. I zero'd a M77 in .243, and put 5 rounds into .75 @ 100yds. We have to qualify with Mini-14s at work, and while it is not the accuracy of an AR platform, I am still able to do a 100% qual@ 100yds with iron sights every time.
That right there is just an example of how the cool-tactical-popular-high-speed-low-drag characteristic is not what makes a firearm acceptable to do the job.
