Gunsmithing Oversized Recoil Lug?

Just trying to figure out if an oversized recoil lug is worth it? I just got a new stock that is already set up for an oversized lug, but I dont know for sure if three is any other mods I would have to get a gunsmith to do other than put on the lug and headspace? Iam trying to be cost effective and the best option. I am going to bed this stock which would take up the extra room in the lug space, but I dont actually know if an oversized lug is important?

As long as the lug is flat that's the big issue. On heavy barrels like and MTU or magnums I use a .25 lug. The lug has tapered sides, is easier to bed, and it looks good.

personally, i like the larger lugs (.25"-.3") because i do my own work and find it easier to work with when doing the machine work. if someone else was doing the work for me, i'd go with what ever thickness they wanted to use as long as it's flat/parallel.

I agree with Randy. But I wouldn't change anything until I was ready to put a new barrel on it.
