Im not sure if this is the right place. I didn’t see a gear type subsection. I’m looking for another pack to take on my day long LARPing trips. My hunting pack is too big and my hiking pack is too small to carry spotting scope, warming layers, kestrel, etc. I’m looking at the attakpak website as I really like the fact that the belt is detachable from the pack as a stand alone unit. I generally carry my bono harness, smaller pack, and battle belt.

I generally play at around 9-12k feet and finding a good pack has cost me a lot of money over the years. Any recommendations in mind?

I have a Stone Glacier pack with an added pocket for my Swaro spotter. I also added their rifle carrier thing and it works ok for packing the rifle, not as great as advertised for access if needed quickly. It sort of spreads apart to haul meat and that feature is good to go. I bought a waterproof bag to hold the meat. It works great. I don't remember the actual model but it's really too small to do an actual backpack hunt by itself. I have done so using a discontinued HMG tent that weighs 16 ounces and a real lightweight sleeping bag. Doable but you need to be real dedicated. I've spent some real cold nights away from camp that way. It works best as a sort of daypack with some extra gear for hunting away from a base camp, maybe a night or 2 away.

Co worker runs a Stone Glacier....good stuff.
I use the Exo Mountain Gear K3 4800. I can go 4-5 nights with it. Last pack out was 110lbs cross country for 9 miles. Pack took it like a champ....my legs are another story.
Same pack condenses down very streamlined for a day hike scouting mission also. They just updated to the K4 frame....looks to be a good improvement.

Good to know. I appreciate the feedback.

I have looked at their stuff and would love to try on some of their stuff. Thanks for the response.

I run a Kifaru tactical frame with their 22 mag pack on it and love it. Just the right size for day hunting in mountains for elk for me. Can put larger pack on instead if needed. If need to haul out quarters the frame can handle it no problem.

Love my KUIU pack frame setup, light, strong, very comfortable and durable.
I have packed a lot of equipment and meat without a single failure.
Just packed out another bull, first pack put 125lbs very comfortable.
Also - fantastic meat sacks! Very lightweight and they do not fail.

I do use the eberlestock phantom for packing my Barrett.

Thanks, just dropped some money on a thermal. My new pack may have wait.
