Looking for a way to clean a carbon fiber barrel for paint. I don't Realy want to have the barrel unravel after cleaning and prep. Or is carbon fiber porous enough for the paint to stick to.

Re: paint ?

It's defiantly paintable but you will have to scuff the finish. When you talk about painting fiberglass, carbon fiber or Kevlar you're really asking if you can paint the epoxy it is saturated in.

Re: paint ?

In my expereince, paint is not durable enough for anything but rifles that get more tender treatment. I have always ended up with scarified finishes, and needed to strip them.

If camo is your goal, I'd suggest something that's easier, and easier to replace, which better reflects the real situation.

I use camo tape. Remington Vinyl RealTree Camo Tape is simple, effective, easily removable, and no sweat to replace. When it's removed, it all comes off, and the entie process is a lot easier on the underlying equipment.
