Does painting a scope make it harder to sell? fairly simple question. All my scopes are factory black but have been thinking about painting one of them.

Yes. Unless you find someone who loves your funky urban desert palm tree and pine needles paintjob.
GunSkins has options available for scopes, it’s a vinyl wrap with various camo patterns on it. I’ve used their Gear Skins product to wrap a couple scopes and they came out pretty good, they also come off relatively easily with some heat, leaving behind a little residue that‘s cleaned up with alcohol or acetone.

I've painted some of my cheaper scopes, but generally leave my nicer scopes unpainted in case I want to sell them down the line. You can wrap some fabric or vinyl around them if you want something removable.
